How do people cope with drinking and gambling?

My family run a pub so it’s not an option avoiding it. We all meet in the pub on a Sunday with our kids. I’d usually bet about £50 throughout the afternoon.

Its tricky as u cant exclude from pubs, I last went to a pub 72 days ago and that day I put 300 pounds in a fruit machine with a 500 jackpot. Untill the point where I couldn't take any more out of the cash machine. It was a hopeeless day and it was the last straw.

Make u pub a pub with no fruit machines, it will help ur locals and ur no doubt sell more beer and food.

To be honest the fruit machines have never done it for me. I’m talking about other people/family members talking about football bets they’re putting on.

Here in the UK, the number of people gambling on fruit machines in pubs has been rapidly decreasing, as the jackpot has increased. It has got to the stage where the companies responsible are trying far too hard to make money from punters. As a result, the fruit machines are incredibly unappealing, cheaply produced, error all the time, and offer little to no chance of winning. Your chances of winning are so slim, that there really is no point in putting your money into them at all. The "random" slots in pubs too, are set to such a low percentage, and the potential to win is, again, almost non existent. Make sure you are aware of this before you're tempted to stick money into them next. You're gonna lose. Get a round in instead.

*EDIT* Apologies, I just read your post saying it isn't the fruits that's the problem for you. I'm gonna leave this post on here though, incase other members come into the thread who do have a problem with fruit machines.

Good stuff! Keep it up, each little victory contributes to the journey as a whole, take it a day at a time, even an hour at a time, and hopefully we can all put gambling well and truly behind us! (y)

I’m on holiday now so easily distracted but my thoughts are already thinking of the 3pm kicks. It’s hard but I’ve signed up to gamstop and can’t bet.
