I am now 5 days without gambling (not for the first time, mind) and I am determined and certain this is it now and I will not relapse again.

This last 5 days I have been hurting but I’ve used it as an opportunity to do a lot of reflection and research in to how I can one day be wealthy and gamble free.

I am a 23 year old who is in around £1500 of debt.

I have read many stories and realise my situation is nowhere near as bad as it could be and that I seriously need to nip this addiction in the bud now.

Please... If you are in a similar situation ... reach out in the comments and maybe we could get in touch and try beat this addiction together ✌️

I was in same situation at your age £1500 ish in debt, maybe less... around £1000 all disguised in credit cards / overdraft. I was constantly in my overdraft but covered up by the fact I had previous uni costs built up and ‘unexpected expenditures’ - really I was lying to myself and it was mostly gambling why I was in a financial pickle. Anyway 7 years on, I am now 30 and have lost around £42k to gambling. I’ve just spent the last 12 months paying off £27k of gambling-debt and just 6k to go before I am ‘gambling-debt’ free. I have not gambled in 111 days... Morale of the story is to stop now whilst it is not out of control otherwise you will be like me; spending time, energy and money fixing it all. I have had enough of it all and I am almost in the clear. I’m mentally drained as I work full-time 46 hours a week, care for my parents part-time, have a wife and a 4 year old. However; it can always be worse! And I know a lot of people have had the struggle twice, thrice as bad! My story is probably nothing compared to some on here. Kudos to them all who have succeeded in the battle against this devilish act.

Great reply beat gambling today. Them words of advice and support help so. Much. I remember been young having my first win and just getting addicted more and more. 20 years I’ve gave money to that horrible horrible demon inside me. I read other day you can put things into your body to get addicted. Gambling it is just there. To all of you out there just do your best to keep it out.
Best wishes to all and keep supporting each other

Thanks buddy. How is your journey now? How u feeling? We all here to help each other, I’m sure of it! I find this site so helpful and it keeps me away from turning off those restrictions on my debit card and playing with those irresponsible non-gamstop sites who hunt on the vulnerable. So happy right now, hope you are good
