im on my first day and already ive decided i wont enjoy sports anymore mainly football. so ive bought a little book and a pen and im still going to pick out bets without staking any money,i will write them down how much i WOULD of staked.then keep the record of them n my new book then after a week/month tally up the profit/LOSS and maybe that will help.... worth a go
I would describe that as a terrible idea.
you’ll have a week where you would ‘have won’ and then you’ll be betting again. If you only enjoy sports when you are betting you aren’t enjoying them anyway.
it’s liberating when you start watching football again without hoping for corners, cards or whatever else you bet on. I know, I have been there
What you talk of is a slippery slope back into gambling
Hi paulbev and welcome to the forum.
No seriously you want to leave that be. Its all part of the delusion and it just keeps your mind involved in the gambling feeling. It will leave you restless and full of false emotions...saved that...could have won...clever both ways eh....NOT!
Its pointless and its meaningless...It will just lead you to relapse into gambling again and its actually your addiction telling your mind that you still want a go at the picking. Waste of time and you have had/still have and ill mind that needs healing with abstention honesty and a born again moment
Use your time to keep talking to us about it and focus that it is NOT and was NEVER an income scheme for you. NOBODY is offering you life changing odds or even a little earner on a no brainer decision.
You will learn about this addiction and what gambling dens are really all about. They never risked their housekeeping money...every tenner from them is stained with the sheer misery of other punters.
If that tenner could talk it would tell you of the rows, misery and homelessness that gambling causes. It would tell you that the bookies are just playing off one punter against another
Do you think they would set up a business which risked their own core funds...leave them skint?
Many people fall for this addiction becuase the process of betting is highly addictive. You are not alone and there is no shame in admitting it
Please tell people close to you and set up protection for your clean money which you wont gamble away again. You need help to heal
Face reality write down your losses because you mind needs the sharp reality to start snapping into the cold turkey that you need to do. It is a drug addiction above all else.
If you think I sound over dramatic and it was just a flutter that went wrong you have a lot to learn. Its no game about a silly flutter. People have gambled millions away which should put this into perspective for you.
You dont need gambling in your life...you have better things to do. Maybe when your mind heals enough you will be able to watch football for the skills of it...I say maybe...time and a proper recovery will tell
Best wishes from everyone on the forum
Hi, I started gambling around 20 years ago fruit machines then when I turned 18 I discovered bookies and online betting about 12 yrs ago, at one point I lost everything from gambling.at that point hit the reset button on the gambling. I have rebuilt my life and got married now and things are great. Recently(year or so)I have started to raise my betting again and the bets are getting more frequent and higher amounts. So I have joined Gamstop to try to stop myself making the same mistakes again
Good to hear a bit about your gambling past and glad you've seen your original idea was not a great one.
Good idea with the Gamstop, it's a great blocker. My advice would be to join a local GA room too so that you can see other like minded people. There's something very comforting knowing that others have your back and that in the room there is someone who understands or has been through what you're going through.
Good luck to you.
