I have to agree 100% with James' comments Saraz. Yes, this 200 is a tiny step in the right direction, but also a massive step back. Try and take as much as you can from this and work on trying to stop completely - JamesP is arguably the most well-informed person on this website so I would take his advice and treat it like gospel.

Hi Salaz,

Hope your week is going OK. Just one comment to add to what has already been said - alarm bells always ring for me when people say they can get around the blocking software or it's not an option for them. To me that just says they are not ready to cut gambling out of their life yet. Even if you could get around the software, it would still make it a massive pain to do so, and would almost certainly help to control the drunk gambling (who wants to start circumnavigating blocking software late at night when drunk?). Why not give it a go?

You cannot control gambling unfortunately - you will never reduce it to just a few Euros here or there. You need to eradicate it completely but first you need to WANT to do that.

From my personal history and from all the hundreds of stories I have read, I'm afraid that my belief is your recent big win will almost certainly be returned to the bookies with a lot more to follow as well. But why not take that as a challenge and prove me wrong? Now's the time to stop - get the blocking software as a first step, even if nothing else, then just as a signal to yourself that you are serious.

Good luck and all the best,

Ross

Hi guys,

Thanx for the replies, my week is going pretty well, i had a very small slip, but other than that i have won my urges a lot, and i m moving like 100 euro to a saving account when i win those urges.

As for the blocking is really not an option and not for the reason you describe, i dont want to elaborate on this but anyway my mini slips as i see lately are from my iPhone when i m out and having a good time, but my 2 best friends are knowing for my situation ( yes is a good step too i guess ) so they check my phone when i m using it drunk.

I hope i m in a good road. As for the "loan" i got lately with the good wins, i think u r right, and this is why i joined this forum after those wins, i m trying to not screw it up this time.

everything is going very good, not a single penny played this week. Weekend is near and is a very good test, i m feeling ok, i m watching this forum and speak with ppl in chat.. Hoping for the best πŸ™‚

edit: i had an e-mail for 20 euro free bet and i couldnt resist, i played them and haven t deposited anything, not a single penny. I blocked the e-mails from that site from my e-mail and self excluded. A bit sad that i played even those 20 free money, but strong that it didnt lured me... still bad move from my side.

Hi Salaz,

Very well done for making the progress you have my friend.

That 20 Euro free bet was a hindrence, something that slowed your recovery but it is not a real problem - don't allow it to bring you down my friend; try to focus on what you have achieved and how you are going forward.

Well done again. Do whatever you need to do to remove temptation from your life; it only holds you back, you don't need that.

Salaz, if you read through your posts, you are all over the place at the moment mate. I say this with the best intentions but you are not listening to what people are telling you who have enormous experience. People who have taken a lot of time to help you and offer advice - coming through to this point and saying things like "yesterday i had a medium loss of 700 euro so i hope that will make me stop" and "i needed a loss so i can remember i can t win every time" is almost insulting after the advice you have been given. You listen, then you just go back to your way and lose everything - you need to understand once and for all that losing and winning is bad, bad, BAD! It's all complete and utter rubbish - forget gambling, it makes you believe things which just aren't true, such as needing a loss to remember you can't win. If you don't want to listen or do what they said, then you may as well be writing this down on a piece of paper at home because it is fairly obvious you do not want to stop, and you don't want to listen. I am being hard on you mate because I want you to make much more of an effort at the moment - I want you really want to stop, or will it take losing everything to realise it?

You are right.. i am sad that i gambled again yesterday, i was once again lucky, very very lucky, and i know that one day i ll lose it all if i keep playing. I really telling you this, i ll never play a penny again, that was it for me. I stop, now before its late. 2 of my best friends know my situation, and know for my last yesterdays big win but i told them i need to stop and i need help from them, and told them despite my big win yesterday i was sad instead of happy, because i gambled again. That s it, trust me ppl, sorry i have dissapointed all of you, i really am.

day 1.

Salaz my friend,

We are only disappointed because you are - we all genuinely want you to do well and conquer this afflcition once and for all.

Big Terry was clearly giving you some "tough love" there and that is fine because all of us need that every now and again - his intentions were good and he wants what is best for you so he meant well.

Try and remember that it is never about the money my friend. If you lost a penny, it wouldn't be the fact that it was a penny, but what it would lead to and that is the problem - all of us have a complusive nature and we will always want to spend more, which is why we should absolutely everything to make sure you don't start.

Be strong my friend. Recognise your urges, work through them, ride the storm - you can do this but sometimes we have to push harder than we think possible.

JamesP

I know Terry is giving tough love and he is right. I KNOW that i will lose all if i keep that gambling, i trully know it, and i ll do my best now, my short term target is to stay gamble free till xmas. I ll do this and i will not dissapoint anyone in here and in my life, i always telling the truth here when i gamble and i ll keep it that way, but now I LL DO IT FOR REAL!
