Simple question.

How do you get yourself in the mindset of forgetting or getting over the losses?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi

You get yourself into the mindset that you must put it behind you as the alternative is that it will eat you up.

That money has gone and you have to use every thought process to put it out and away from your mind.

The simple fact you start with is what price your life because you are still here. You are still immensely fortunate as gambling addiction kills people to be necessarily blunt about it

Then you look at whats important in your life...your health your loved ones because without those life could be grim. If you were stranded in the desert you would give everything you had for a flask of water so you have to boil it back down to the basics.

Gambling was NEVER the answer to what you were seeking. Nothing was really on offer. They wanted your money and they got it with the tactics of hooking you on a fix, a drug addiction, a dream.

Its NOT a get it back later scheme. Theres no plan to get it back slowly or fast.......thats why its called gambling. On those odds its a mugs game, a tax on dreams, a drug of expectation

How it remains legal is very sinister. Its the most dangerous addiction I know with the power to clean somebody out financially in no time.

Let it go. You survived to tell the tale and thats the way you must look at this. You must to some degree think its only money. If you dont it will play on your mind with a strong possibility of relapses and a ruined recovery.

Any debts you get rescheduled and can only pay what you can afford...this is all about a fresh start and building a healthy mind again which takes the recovery journey.

Best wishes from everyone on the forum

Perhaps focus on the gains.. The positives of not gambling. The money you can re build in your bank and save.

Don't know really.. It doesn't pay to dwell as that creates negativity and that hampers recovery.. Bur I am no expert. Just trying to get through it as best I can like you

Wish you all the best.

Chat and helpline could come in useful for you

Boo ?

You will never be without money. There will always be new cash at some stage. Guilt is something we are programmed with to whip us silly every time we do bad things that we know we could have done differently.  Be happy that you have that guilt. That may help you stop gambling one day. And don't forget to forgive yourself. You just need to take responsibility for the things you have done wrong. It sort of starts there.

Every penny we spend is a loss we don’t get back .

car tyre punctured , washing machine breaking , new shoes for kids the money spent we ain’t getting it back , we pay out the whole month  we just let it go. I use monza bank create loads of savings accounts for every type of bill , every penny has a reason to be there waiting. I have got all my little pots up to £1k this month  seems massive, yet a year ago I spun for £12k  one spin and lost (Half a years wage equivalent) I reset my life after 30 plus years to be in better place that’s the focus better place for us all
