Had another vivid dream about gambling. The last time this happened it triggered a relapse. My dreams are so real, they are as if I have a second life when I shut my eyes. This could be due to anti-depressants apparently? Anyway, in my dream I went to the bookmakers and won £250,000 on a £1 lottery bet. The strange thing was that I remember thinking that I'm only going to blow the lot eventually. Maybe this is a turning point in my life? I now fully accept that when I gamble, even when I win on the rare occasion I know the end result will be self-destructive gambling and copious amounts of alcohol to numb me.

Over a month since my last bet and feeling more hopeful.

All the best

Stuart

Alcoholics who quit often have 'drink-dreams'. Dreams where they are drinking or are drunk. Sometimes they seem so real that they actually believe they have had a drink...and feel drunk or even get themselves breathalyzed just to be sure...

Maybe I am odd, but don't mind drinking or gambling in my dreams... It is as close as I get these days...

In one dream I have, I can fly! I am running, then fly away... It doesn't make me think I can fly or try it off a roof or cliff...

Don't make more out of dreams than they are. It is just your subconscious mind making sense out of all you have done and been through...

And you are right, some anti-depressants and certain types of sleeping pills can give you vivid realistic dreams, (tamazapam is very bad for this).

It is what you do when you are awake that counts...

Last night I had another incredibly vivid dream. I was at a job interview and I clearly remember thinking that i had a good chance because I used to work with someone also in my dream. The  other part of my dream was about Virtual reality. It was so realistic, you could fly anywhere in the world, fly jets etc. I remember thinking how it would take over people's lives and would form another addiction. I think I have these dreams when I', feeling very low like I did yesterday. The good news is I have no intention or thoughts of gambling.

All the best.

Well done on the month. That's a good achievement. If we all keep going, one day at a time, everything else will improve along the way.

Thanks for the support.

If I don't gamble for the rest of the year, I would have stayed gambling free for almost 11 months in 2019. At the moment I'm not working so not stressed therefore not gambling. Had to go to a DWP assessment the other day so I fully expect to be deemed fit to work soon. The thing is not working means being on my own in my room most of the time so I want to go back to work as soon as. My goal is to remain gambling free for this year then start a new goal of a year without a bet.
