Hi Bailie I have found myself in this sort of situation with my gambling and it’s not a nice feeling at all. I would recommend getting onto gamstop and blocking every access you have to gamble including handing over your bank cards to a family member or partner and to attend regular gamblers anonymous meetings from my experience it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do but it does get easier as time goes on I’ve been stopped gambling 8 months now and it still hasn’t quite registered when I used to be gambling as regular as yourself but I would be as honest as you can with family members open up about everything and attend gamblers anonymous and that what has stopped me from gambling again

Hello Bailie1010 and Welcome.

You can stop when you do a proper recovery. You have an addiction and its just that you don't know how to deal with its power yet

Stay on the forum because you need to be here. Please if you can tell someone close in your family

I understand the isolation you feel which sounds like anxiety or depression. You need some way of getting out there again and realising there are far better things to be doing than gambling

It's a healing and learning process. It's a drug addiction more than anything and you have to do some cold turkey with help from others. Gambling is not what you are really seeking...its an escape from reality which soon becomes an illness

It may sound twee at the moment but you have to get back to basics. A good country walk while you observe the simple pleasures in life is far better than what you have been doing. You don't have to be life and soul of the party...just get out there and do your thing and your life will build

You have to heal your mind in small steps as you get yourself back. Don't put pressure on yourself and learn to love yourself.

Best wishes from everyone on the forum

@bailie1010 it’s good that you’re doing something but while you’re waiting why don’t you try the GA I found in Belfast? 7-8 weeks is a fair wait.

Good luck though.

Chris.
