i just feel so downbeat and broken, this addiction has taken over my life. Gambling strikes me when i don’t expect it to, and turns all the positives into negatives. I nearly went 3 months gamble free, and then in the past week i have cleared £300 from my bank, lost a £125 payday loan and lost another £100 loan. when will i learn? What will it take for my stupid self to stop this and realise it only ends in tears for me.

i’m already repaying £1000 in loans and this upcoming friday would have been nearly everything paid off after an awful 10 months mentally for me, but then i go ahead and do this to myself. i live alone, my jobs minimum wage and i am struggling to survive like this.

gambling distracted me, i stayed (and still do) up til 5am gambling on dumb stuff like bolivian under 18’s boys volleyball, i failed my a-levels because i’d rather research russian football than revise my subjects, i was thrown out because i became such aburden with my gambling issues and now i’ll probably be kicked out if i can’t afford to pay my bills.

how on earth do you pick yourself up from what feels like rock bottom

Dear @vladhusiyaku

Well done  for 3 months gamble free.

It is not unusual for people to fall into a relapse when they have cleared/ almost cleared their debt.

It sounds like you have been going through a challenging 10 months. It sounds like the gambling has impacted your relationships with your friends, family and for now your prospects but it does not have to stay this way. It is possible to stop. It is possible to re-take your A-Levels. And it is possible to repair your relationships with your family and friends.

I recognise that rock bottom feels very uncomfortable at the moment, but this may be the beginning of a new start for you.

Coming on the Forum is a very good first step to picking yourself up. Please keep coming and posting on the Forum. Please also feel free to call the Helpline or the Netline should you want to discuss anything further.

Wishing you all the best,

Hi

You can beat this into history when you are ready for the born again moment. Its a moment when you reach out for all the help and start to finally realise you have a drug addiction.

The money side of it is a mugs game and deep down you know that. Nobody is offering you life changing odds that you can research to make easy money. They would be out of business fast if it just took intelligence to make a clever gamble. Its called gambling for a reason and you face teams of people setting these odds. They are not risking all their money as they spread the risk over the whole operation.

They are not offering attractive odds unless they feel you have no chance...Thats where punters are totally delusional because they are hooked

You are risking all your money and you cant afford to lose it. Please start the exercises. Explain your life to a non gambler and you will see it makes no sense. Write down what you have lost over the years...thats gambling!

Its is lucky clover dopamine that your brain becomes addicted to. It works like a drug addiction and thats why its so dangerous and cleans us out.

Gambling is not the answer to what you seek...Its killing you

The answers are within you to lead a gamble free life. To heal you need the help to realise it takes more than just willpower

Best wishes from everyone on the forum
