Not new to this forum or gambling,I ve bin slowly ruining my life for the past 20years first were bandits than roulette and now the wrost of all fobt. after two weeks of unbelievable wins £2000-3000 on fobt which I couldnt believe was possible and bits online, it's all gone"what a surprise hey" but anyway my point on this post is most people including myself come on here mainly just after a big loss,is it possible to carry on gambling but to control it I love gambling and cannot really ever see my giving it up, which I know is sad and scares me, even though it's messed my life up in massive way from thousand s in debt to not being able to get a mobile phone contract or mortgage I still want that feeling of £10 straight up coming in on the roulette wheel.would be good to hear from anyone out there who as conquered this.

I'm looking for the same answer as you as I love punting in general, I think I'm only addicted to the roulette as I only do 5-10 pound football bets! I feel like I'm about yo loose everyone in my life if I tell them sorry I couldn't help with your answer but I felt like I had to comment as I don't want you thinking your alone Ion this!

Cheers Marty for the reply, I ve been thinking over the last few days, and I ve decided to focus giving up roulette and fruit machines. This is because I don't want the odd football bet or lottery ticket to put me off the major problem, which is definitely roulette.some people might say totally give up which might be the best or even only way but I am going to try my way and see how it go's.

Good luck mate and hope u can move on from 'the devil' lol

Back on the roulette again tonight really annoyed with myself just can't seem to kick the habit. I know it's my fault like many people on here when your totally addicted to something you think is going to make your life better, and it's hard to stop.@, when really it's slowly killing it. Really pleased reading some of these posts, that people are getting to grips with sick disease!! good on yer wish I could build the desire and courage to join yer,but I am sure I'll come crawling in a few week/months when I am on my knees.

Good work Marty, I know exactly where your coming from with the mood swings, wife thinks I am always in a bad mood cos of work or tiredness!! but gambling really can turn a person into a different character altogether.i get paid just before xmas luckily,(because I m broke too) but On the other hand scared because I know what a tool I am with money when I ve have it.

Hi mark thought is leave a comment as we are in similar situations. But my one word of advice would be to try an knock all gambling in he head to see how you go at the start. What I have learnt for me is that all forms of gambling always lead me back to the main source of the problem the FOBT. I was off all gambling for 3 months there had paid back 1/4 of my debt an then started with a few football bets games of poker an bang it wasn't long before I was back in a daze standing watching a computerised ball spinning round a wheel! I have undone all my hard work for the last 4 months but during this time i always had it in my head I could return to the weekly football bet. This was my major downfall so please try knock it all for as long as you can. As my counsellor always says to me what's the the difference in a fobt addict just betting on football or an alcoholic not drinking vodka just cider. They will eventually drink enough cider to get the same effect. I can now related to this. Good luck in your battle.

Hi guys,

Everyone on this post is exactly like me. Its good that we've all identified that FOBT's are our downfall - however yesterday ive realised that in order to seriously have a chance of kicking this habit into touch we need to accept that any form of gambling needs to stop.

Until yesterday my last time on a FOBT was the first of May.... Over 7 months and I should have been mega proud.

I was still placing my football bets, the odd horse racing bets but I didnt really feel a sense of achievement as I wasnt gamble free.

I still felt a fraud reading others diarys and seeing their gamble free days increase and increase and me giving out advise felt a little hollow...

Anyway yesterday waa a big wake up call. A day on a FOBT made me realise im a compulsive gambler and the only way im gonna be free is to kick ALL gambling into touch

Wishing all you guys all the best.

Mark

Well mark, long time since I have been on this, just seen the top man for gamecare in the news this week and it reminded me of this forum, it's now been, 1 year and 10 month approximately since I last gambled, I completely stopped all forms of gambling came clean to my parents and eventually my partner of 6 years, now this was tough, toughest thing I have ever done! My aunt came across a person in our local bulletin in the chapel for a counsellor that helps with the addiction of gambling and that's where I started to get my life back togeather! I have now done alot more things than I thought was possible I have gained a promotion in work and moved out with my partner, none of this is possible if I was still gambling! Hope you are well and have sorted yourself out with your addiction all the best marty!
