With the never ending farcical lock down restrictions taking their toll on everyone's mental well-being I have found the gambling urges building up this week

My biggest problem was online casino with it coming to a head last year after blowing several grand online whilst I was supposed to be on holiday in Spain and nearly having a nervous breakdown

stopped for a long time after that and rebuilt my finances …… then the global plandemic started and we entered into 8 months of effective house arrest

During the beginning (Mar – APR) I found it tough going and out of sheer boredom ended up back online think I lost something ridiculous like £350 in 2 or 3 hours In a zombie like trance but I managed to give myself a slap in the face and came back to reality

I got on with life as best I could and by jul / aug things were looking better but then out of nowhere the media and gov started the scaremongering again and pulling ridiculous “2nd wave” numbers out of thin air and back into arrest we go

well this week its got a bit too much again and I got back online on Wednesday

Put £50 in Acutally won £25 and logged off , yesterday afternoon sure enough found myself back online when supposed to be working this time depositing 3x as much as the day before

Things were starting to look ugly as I lost £120 in about 20 mins but then hit a little purple patch and won a bit back ….i had to drag myself from the laptop to go to the gym left the remaining money in there

Luckily GF was home from work by the time I got home from gym so no opportunity to do anymore online

The plan for this morning was to log back in and do the rest in and probably depost 100X more as I enter zombie state

But learning from past mistakes I logged onto this forum first and read some horror stories this was enough to wake me up I logged on the site withdrew the balance and self-excluded for 6 months

I am very happy I did the right thing and made this decision as I am supposed to be buying a new car next month and have 5 grand in my account so a gambling binge could of ruined that

Good start maxmaher. Next time go for the 5 year option give yourself a chance to really get your teeth into recovery, in 6months time the temptation will be in your face. re-read what you have written your mental health is affected by gambling and I completely understand you run to it in times of upset/ boredom. But one day it will turn into every day just because....don't give yourself the option. Best wishes to you for recovery

Excellent. Just don't go back on. Ever. I know that in six months time, the temptation will be absolutely massive. Just don't ever go back. Or anywhere to gamble.
