Hi All,

Just something I'd like to share. I've been gf for my 7th day and it's such a relief, Time is much more, I've been frugle but I'm still finding it hard to come to terms of the disappointment and shame and broken trust I've given to my loved ones.

My topic here is just to see if anyone had the insight like me, in the sense that I used to heavily think and strongly belive gambling could make money. like viewing online players and seeing them go from 20p to 80p(reasonable and yet high in my head) stakes to 2£-10£, and feel like I could do the same and make a good hit and save and try again....and keep doing it. But the go down the route of loss chase etcetc.

I did also stopp watching these people too as I feel it's not valuable to me personally and its just pointless.

Any views of anyone who felt like this or similarly gambling is a type of living motto would like to discuss.

I'd also like to wish everyone who reads this the courage and internal strength that YOU can do this. I maybe 7 days in and you may be 1 day in but this the start of something new...start of getting YOUR life back

Remember that some of these online players are actually affiliates of online casino's. They get paid to make these uploads and some are actually playing versions of the slot games that have a higher pay out than what the average mug gambler is playing on. Its all designed to suck the gambler in.

Also remember that these online players tend not to show you the hours of play where nothing much is happening other than the steady decline of funds.

The internet wouldn't be awash with online casino's if gamblers were able to win and make money. In the end everybody looses. The only win is not to play. Easier said than done for a compulsive gambler. At the end of the day its being in action that is what we want and escape from the problems and realities of real life.

Ive noticed a lot more poker players come here recently which is great.

I have tried over ten years to make money from poker thru various methods, (online, cash games, pub games and casino).....  it was a hobby of mine and i enjoyed it however towards the end of online i noticed how much i spent (8k a year after bills), then went to pubs where i would win but would put rest of money in fruit machines day in day out, ive found that if i am gambling at all im losing and im not a good loser i cant handle a small loss or small win i will continue untill it is substantial then stop untill its not fresh in my mind and start again....

With this in my mind im just an average enthusiast with regards to poker loving the play but ultimately prone to losing every time at some point......

So i do miss playing but now 777 days free from it 111 weeks without a gamble i can say that ive won...... I've saved more thru the period of six years on gamcare that i ever could have thru the ten years gambling before.....

When gambling after my bills were paid i looked up and created a spreadsheet of my spending.....whilst gambling i was still iving a frugile lifestyle spending little on myself and at the end of 2016 i said to my mum look i managed to only spend 8k this year after bills and she said thats terrible!!!!!!!! and i thought actually yeah even tho id been really trying to spend as little as possible id spent 666 pounds each month on socialising!!!!  ive realised that gambling clouds your judgement.

One thing id recomend is start a spreadsheet write down all you income and outgoings and budget and look at what youre spending....  Now i dont gamble its great after bills thru lockdown year i spent 200 pounds (in the whole year)!!!!!!!

I have also recently learnt to not think too much about the money aspect even tho this at first is difficult as my whole life was revolving around +10 _12+12+13-11-44-22etc all thinking about making more money and spending less money....... i would not buy rounds of drinks for friends..... i wouldnt buy drinks or meals out.... id spend as little as i could on me not get anything but spend lots on gambling..... my priorities were all wrong..

lets get out money priorities right...after all in this age people are being more responsible and not living towards these capilist goals that are pumped towards us.... perfect house....perfect kitchen....perfect garden...perfect clothes.... all not good for the environment and a bit 1980s -90s......in 2020 we dont actually need these things and its better for the environment that we don't!!!!! 75% of clothes produced on earth go to landfill (what a waste).

So ive been thinking recently what am i trying to get all this money for..... so now im working less hours,....relaxing more.....buying less material things..... less possesions......not gambling....not going to pubs.....not drinking.... not smoking... not doing drugs BUT LIVING MORE in my opinion.

Sorry to ramble just went off on one apologies adam
