Hey,

I am new here, and don't really know where to begin, but I will try my best.

I used to work in the gambling industry, and never used to gamble that much. That is until I met my now ex-partner there. It used to be something we just did,  go somewhere and bet a load of money on slots or bingo. He used to spend hundreds on online slots and poker. The relationship fell apart, and then I started to do the same. Put hundreds in the online slots, thankfully getting most of the money back.

It was during the lockdowns, and I thought I had nothing else to lose. Me and him broke up, and I really wanted that rush again. But a few days ago, something snapped in me, and I looked at myself in someone else's eyes. I used to go out and play bingo for fun, not to actually rely on the winnings. So on the 17th November, I stopped all online gambling, because it was the place where I lost control.

I am here to rebuild my life again. It has been a hectic few months, but I needed to see that just because it is online, it is real money being used.

Hi

Sounds like you got yourself in a little rut there and I’m glad to hear you have given  up gambling.

working in the industry im sure you will have seen what gambling can do to people, it’s not be taken lightly atall and beware it hasn’t got a hold of you more than you think.

As you say online it really doesn’t seem like real money it’s quite scary how easy hundreds of pounds can quickly disappear and before you know it bills and other daily life things can’t be bought and that’s when it becomes real life ,

do you have someone close to you that you can talk to, I personally attend Ga meetings but also have someone close I talk to which helps a lot, especially if your having a bad day and you get the urges just to have a little bet. Those little bets Always eventually just send you back into old habits.
this is a great site and plenty help so just have a browse about.

I wish you well my friend

Well done London. Coming here last year was the best thing I did. I’m now almost a year without gambling and all the better for it! You can be the same, just take it a day at a time!!

Thank you for the understanding. I have seen what it does to other people's lives, and should have known that it could get the hooks in me too.

One of the main reasons for the spiral is because it was online. I never saw the money as real, but I certainly do now. Thankfully I still live with my parents, and have told my best friend and my boyfriend about it. They are non-gamblers, which has been an amazing support. I am hoping to get my own place one day, which has helped motivate me.

This is an amazing forum and site,
