I started gambling 2 yrs ago via bingo, and after having an MS relapse which left me home a lot and often alone,  I took to gambling online. It got out of hand and my family stepped in to try and help. iIlet my husband take control of all finance but this didn't work..I opened new cards and got more into debt via credit cards and paying  via my phone.  I did gamstop but found sites abroad to use. I signed upto GA the week before lockdown but that didn't help either. My husband ended up off work with worry. He just went back to work and I ended up stealing his credit card details, and the current account. I lost nearly 1K in 4 days. I couldn't face what I had done so took a bottle of rum and all my medication off in the car with me.  I found I couldn't do it. Thankfully the thought of my family brought me back. my husband had called the police, I was stooped on my drive around by 6 cars and put into a police car, the Crisis team were called. I had a face to face session with them yesterday afternoon. I was given this site number and leaflets and referred back to counselling.

I never want to put my family through that again,

But guess what.. I went and gambled again today with the last of the credit on my paypoal account/ What's this all about!!!

We all hit an all time low, mine was 2 weeks ago today, when my husband found out I’d lied about my gambling for the 3rd time and I thought he would leave me! 2 weeks with no gambling whatsoever and I’m feeling a lot happier and so calm because I’m not trying to cover up where my moneys gone etc! So although you cannot see through the low and unhappiness, believe me when I say even 1 day of not gambling will make you feel able to try & stop! It’s do-able you just have to keep talking on here, being honest with yourself and loved ones! Also I’d recommend blocking services like gamstop or gamblock as they will stop you from going on any online gambling sites from the uk!
wish you all the best and good luck! You can do this!

Thank you for sharing your story jill and stay strong to get through this - there is so much support out there. Your so brave to share this and now you've made such an important step

Join the 8pm group chats- there is strength in numbers to help each other & we have all experienced different journeys but we all want to stop giving our money to those conning gambling sites - only one person is getting rich & it's not the gamblers, its not worth it

Stay safe  - Take care jill & will look forward to chatting again soon

Stay safe
