I bank with Monzo and have gam ban and gam block installed. With Monzo I’ve told them about my addiction and they’ve added it to my account for reference and I cannot withdraw any money from a cash point. It also includes a gambling block so can’t use chip and pin.

Hi Certified

Sorry to hear you're still struggling. This seems to be happening continuously for you. It's hard to know what to suggest since you're saying you are getting round whatever blocks you're putting in place. Like we suggested last month, have you considered giving us a call on the Helpline to talk it over? We're there 24/7 on 0808 8020 133 or by Livechat.

Best wishes,

Deirdre

Certified you only seem to come back and post when you loose money ?

Do you really want to stop or are you just upset after every loss ?

What blocks do you have gamstop gamban banking block?

Anyone give finances too?

Have you sought out counselling?

The blocks are a major factor but you have to do the hard work too

Trust me ive been there but you have to be ready to fight it rather than just being devastated at each loss. Because its obviously a major problem.

Certified....have you called the phoneline as Deidre suggested a few days ago? You are going around in circles . Lou has written some really good ideas , is there anything different you could try out of what lou has suggested ?

Yeah the more you gamble the more and more debt you will get in you will never clear debt through gambling.

I got in trouble with loans etc and i got help from stepchange debt charity to create a plan to help pay it off and they helped by speaking to creditors and stopping the interest.

The only way to get debt free is to stop gambling and start paying off the debt with the money your gambling. It may feel like long time to pay it back but at least you wouldnt be loosing more.

Charlie boy!! You are always there with support ? certified.. I feel for you I really do ? I have only been GF 7 days.. But Gamstop is best thing I've ever done!  I too have thousands and thousands worth of debt!! I feel sick over it.. But at least I'm now not adding to them as I am committed to never gambling again... If you stop now.. Yes you'll have these debts to pay off.. But if you continue gambling you'll have even more!!

Please put Gamstop in place and call the helpline... They have been brilliant! I call them all the time and they are so supportive ?

I truly wish you lots of positivity and support.

You can do it ?

Lost loads more money on Friday on a bet everyone knows is basically a dead certain every year but it lost. I am now current just under 5k in debt with £600 rent per month to pay on top of that also with council tax etc. I have no money and no one to help me and currently max out my debit card overdraft and I am now left with 12p to my name until next Thursday at 4PM. Then when I get paid every penny has to go on debts and loan payments I have missed so I don’t know what to do right now. Currently having to work long hours 7 days a week to survive but still have no money in the bank when I get paid. Feel like selling my laptop on eBay as that will generate at least £700. I am 25 and looks like I have no choice to go back home soon as I can’t afford this life.

does any one know if I can cancel my tenancy agreement early? I know it’s off topic but is there anything that can be done?

I have been in similar sort of debt before and got it all paid off but then I think im cured then result back into gambling. I am blocked online and everything but for some reason I am able to still get into shops I’m excluded from.

I should really be in a beer garden after the bad year we’ve all had but no I’m here having to pay stupid loans and left with literally pennies in my bank.

im done with this gambling life. Hopefully my 8 years of hell since turning 18 will be over soon.

If you sold your laptop online i feel you would just gamble the money away ?

You will never win the money back you will keep loosing and loosing and digging deeper holes. Good you got blocks maybe complain the the places that have let you in when your self excluded so they can be aware.

If you did end you tenancy where would you go ?if its back with parents can they control your money for you and how much you get ?. Would you then instead gamble the rent money ?

You really need to not think about creating more money at the moment. You need to just accept the loss and try and get through and find enough just for food /bills. Then start fresh next month have you contacted anyone to get help sith a budget to manage money better to be able to pay off debts ?

Why dont you join the chatrooms or when you considering going to gamble call helpline instead. Come on forum daily or when you get paid rather than just after a loss.

Its possible to turn things around now but its important although you probably already know you wont make money back gambling. It just causes more loss

Hello Certified,

You asked a question about your tenancy, so here are the contact details for Shelter as they can advise you about tenancy rights:

Shelter

0808 800 4444 (Freephone Shelter Housing Advice line, they can advise you about your tenancy rights and guide you on what to say to your landlord)

8am - 8pm on weekdays, 9am - 5pm on weekends

https://england.shelter.org.uk/get_help/helpline

You also mentioned debt, so here are a couple sources of debt advice:

StepChange
0800 138 1111
https://www.stepchange.org/debt-info/gambling-debt.aspx

Money Advice Service
0800 138 7777
https://www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk/en/articles/tackling-problem-gambling-and-debt

You mentioned that you are able to gamble at betting shops where you are self-excluded, if you like you could share that feedback with 'MOSES':

MOSES (Multi-Operator Self-Exclusion Scheme; for betting shops)
0800 294 2060
https://self-exclusion.co.uk/

As Lou mentioned, some people allow a family member to look after their money for a while, if they are experiencing a time when they tend to gamble all available funds.

Please call us on our freephone for more support.  We are available 24 hours a day on 0808 8020 133.

Take care,

Adam.

Thanks for the advice. I just feel like not 1 person can help me or cares about my problems. I literally have no one to fall onto. I broke up with my ex over 3 years ago now and keep have dreams that we’ve got back together. My life is a mess and I just want it to end. I have a c**P job, no future and nothing going for me. I have literally hit rock bottom and if my ex knew my situation she will probably laugh and know  I’m in the same place as 2018, probably worse. One of the reasons we broke up was because I lost like 10k on 1 bet and ripped up my passport and I couldn’t go on the dream holiday to Mexico with her. We lasted about 8 months after that and now she’s gone for good. I think I am over her but constant dreams remind me of my poor past. The only difference is now I’m not settled down and don’t have any one for support. I am literally done in for.

I care im trying to support you, right now you need to focus on you. Dont think about relationships and settling down now because you need to do this for you and get into recovery first. Being in a relationship wont fix things however the gambling will make it worse and in long term if you sort your gambling issue now you will find your relationships are better in the future due to trust etc.

You need to do everything you can blocks wise gamstop gamban moses etc. Get a gambling block with your bank..ring the helpline daily if u need to..access chatroom..access counselling or ither treatment options..maybe if you feel alone with no support try joining Ga there will be lots of support.

I live alone noone close to me know anything about my gambling or other issues it can feel so isloating. I use chatroom on here in evenings to speak to others you will find many have been through similar experiences and have great advice.

Noone can fix you..there help and support you can receive such ad treatment but ultimatly its down to you to do the hard work

Lou x

Hi

I did the same as you, I self excluded myself from bookies, then travelled further out to find a bookie I haven't excluded from.

What I did to over come this is to self exclude myself everytime I  entered a bookie and if I managed to enter one that I have already excluded myself I would challenge them.

If you don't have the money on you, you can't spend it. Don't have any bank cards on you, just have the cash you need for your daily expenses for that day.

You need to have someone you can trust to look after your money, and that person gives you a daily allowance.

When that daily allowance has gone, no more money for you that day.

Losing £3000, you definitely need someone to take control of your money.

Good luck
