Dear Gail,

I am sorry that you found a site you were able to play on whilst registered with Gam Stop. Gam Stop is still a voluntary scheme so not every single website is registered although I believe that you have requested this be looked in to.

I would also suggest that you consider downloading a blocking software on to any electronic device that you may use to gamble to give you an extra layer of protection, however while putting blocks in to place is a very good first step it is not necessarily addressing the reasons why somebody might gamble; for further support around this I would recommend looking in to treatment support which is available free of charge in person, over the telephone or online.

If you would like to talk to someone further about this please call us on the helpline on 0808 8020 133 or on our netline; both available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Wishing you all the very best.

Hi there, sorry this has happened. Gamstop is probably not quite fully operational yet but when it is, it will block all UK licensed gambling sites. Until then, there may be a few sites that are still possible to sign up to and I suggest you manually self exclude immediately from the sites you were allowed to bet with and also report them to Gamstop using the chat button on their website, especially if the company is signed up to the program. If you have only recently signed up to Gamstop, there may also be a slight delay in processing your registration.

In order to help your recovery try to remember Gail that relapse is relapse whether you win or whether you lose. What determines relapse is the fact that you bet again, not the fact that you lost. The outcome of your bet, however upsetting is not what is important here but the fact that somehow, your self exclusion didn't prevent you from betting.

I can understand how worrying this is for you. Please make sure that you keep your details up to date with Gamstop and as I say, self exclude manually from these sites as soon as possible if you can as it adds an extra layer of protection.

All the best to you moving forward.

hi i think you should focus more on getting help for your gambling addiction than getting the money back that you gambled when you shouldnt of , let it go it isnt gamstops fault it is yours forst things we need to do is realise nobody else is to blame but ourselves good luck
