Hi... I can't imagine what it must feel like to be in your situation and the whole mother/son relationship BUT from the outside looking in.. all I see is a son using you as a cash point... that's it. He is ruled by his addiction and in my opinion the best way to help him, is to leave him to it, just leave him to it. Unless this person he supposedly owes to is some sort of international gangster then just ignore your son's implied threats. No more money.

All the best

He can only face this when he HAS to. I only stopped when I ran out of credit lines (including family).

Gambling addiction is miserable but you are only prolonging the misery, at your expense. You will get into financial trouble too if you carry this one and once he gets the help he will understand why you said no and thank you for it.

Look after yourself this is going to be tough for everyone.

All the best.

What a difficult situation for you, I am very sorry you are going through this. I am a CG and owe my family around 6k. I hated ever asking them for money, and I actually did pay debts off with the money and not gamble it directly. I intend to pay every penny back and work very hard to do so. I also appreciate their help so much. Your son is in the throws of the addiction right now and doesn’t want to stop. Like others have said keep strong and don’t bail him out (as hard as it must be as I am a mother and understand) but he won’t realise his problem until he has no money to be able to gamble anymore. It is like a drug induced haze when you want the fix, but it’s only when you are physically not able to gamble that you come down from this craze and think about your actions. Stay strong, we are all here to help in any way we can.
