Hey all,

Today is truly the start of the end of my gambling. All sites excluded etc, (don't have an issue with shops). I've always been an addictive type person, and always spent a little too much on scratch cards etc, lottery, but since lockdown it's gone up a level, (online).

My dad died of covid in April, so this feel some what a mixture of a coping mechanism and my general addictive personality.

But as I've mentioned, all sites are blocked. New start and the start of me paying money back.

all the best. Big Red

Hello,

Welcome to the GamCare forum. Well done for reaching out here and for taking so many great steps forward in your recovery.

I am sorry to hear that your Dad died of Covid last year, it is understandable to need an outlet for how difficult that must be. I just wanted to draw your attention to this organisation who could give you some support with that.

With regards to your gambling it sounds like you have made some very positive steps forward. If you would like to talk to someone about how gambling has affected you, our helpline is available 24/7. You can contact them on 0808 8020 133 or by using our Livechat. The advisers are also able to refer you for one to one support which may help you find other ways of coping with the grief of losing your Dad.

In the meantime, please do continue to use the forum.

Take care,

my dad died in February dude, so i can relate, and even though i had a serious gambling problem before this happened, i would say for sure his death made it a lot worse.
