So I'm officially out of money from gambling it away, I don't get paid for a few weeks and my brain is like a washing machine, Im scared of what will happen next, its the first time I've lost all my money and not having the money too gamble. I don't know how I'm going too cope with it, and the fact its the unknown is scary.

@walks15 Do you think you've answered your own question yesterday?

Could you give the gamcare advisers a call or find a GA meeting?

Chris.

@walks15, I am in a similar situation. Worst for me is i gambled away my entire money and some cash from the office.

From my country, care centers like this are hard to find, so you are basically own your own.

I need help right now.

Good afternoon,

Let me ask a question. Say, you won - what would you have done?

From a CG viewpoint you would have continued to gamble. Dreaming of a big win. To borrow a phrase "you cannot win because you cannot stop"

We gamblers are very resilient when the chips are down. Perhaps its time to consider what you are going to do when you get paid again.

Words are shallow. Actions run deep

Best

@walks15 well you've caught it early so hopefully the treatment they offer will be suitable for you.

Hopefully you have someone at home that you can talk to as well. Not everyone does but it's nice to have that support if you need it.

Chris.

Hi  Sudeh,

Sorry to read you have been affected in this way by problem gambling. It sounds as though you are based outside the UK. If you would like some support and someone to talk about your gambling, I would strongly encourage you contact Gambling Therapy. They provide support for those who reside outside the UK and can offer practical and emotional support if you are impacted by gambling related harms.

I have also included a link to other Support Agencies outside the UK. I hope this will be helpful for you. Link: https://www.gamcare.org.uk/get-support/links-to-other-support-agencies/

However, if you are based within the UK. Please don’t feel alone with any concerns around gambling and do get in touch, we can offer further support or information via our Helpline on 0808 8020 133 or our NetLine both are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Best wishes,

Vanessa

Thank you for sharing your post, I’m 8 months gamble free and ive been in your situation..

Getting paid, putting money aside for priorities such as bills etc and then blowing the remainder, looking at the calendar and thinking... I’ve got 3 weeks and 5 days to the next pay day, counting down every day.

I found myself selling random items from around the home so I could cash in a few quid into my account and deposit into a betting account.

It’s a vicious cycle if you find yourself getting into a routine of being paid and blowing the lot within a few days.

I noticed the psychological effect it has, as soon as all of the money goes you feel down and desperate and as soon as you get paid, you forget the black clouds and suddenly the thrill and excitement kicks in again to gamble.. until you hit rock bottom days later.

I hope you find the support from this great community but owning up and admitting you have a problem is the first step and you have to be brave to say because all gamblers are in denial to protect themselves.

Thank you for commenting on my post. It helps knowing that I'm not a lone and that other people have been in similar circumstances, 8months is amazing you should be very proud, and it gives me hope I can get on the right path as well, the psychological side of is what im struggling with most. The high and then the crash is bad, and the guilt that comes with it. Thank you I've only just admitted I have a problem and it was scary and hard too do so, but I have hope from reading comments like yours and the first step of reaching out was hard, hopefully I can get on the right path

Hi Walks15 and welcome.

Yes its not a good feeling but if you start a full recovery you will realise that the scary period was your gambling behaviour when you were not ready to face it as a real problem.

You will be confused when faced with the reality of what has happened. Its like coming down off a drug...a drug that is destroying you but you craved it at all costs.

You thought you had control and when in the moment nothing could go much wrong because you thought you knew what you were doing....you would  stop way before it got serious eh but its always teh next go with this addiction...the next go to save you...the next go drip feeding the dopamine until you are in an altered state and the decisions get crazier

The addiction takes us beyond all control and its a devious. nasty addiction because it takes over without us realising how much of a slave we are to it.

Honesty and openness are your saviours. Please tell someone close. In the short term you need to finance food and getting to work. Its a good time to be honest with people and see how they can help for the longer term as well.

We've all been there which is scary to think about. Ive walked home countless times on freezing cold nights with nothing in my pocket or my bank account....but I was back doing it as soon as I got paid again

Break the cycle...make this your moment and reach out...do something that really matters like telling your parents you have a serious problem.

Enforce the blocks and build up the mental barriers that you would be letting everybody down including yourself.

You dont need gambling in your life. Focus again on what its done to you....its no good..... its a mugs game and a fools tax!...leave it be and start a recovery to heal your mind.

Best wishes from everyone on the forum

christ i have been in your position on the past on many occasions when i was younger

watching 8 hours worth of football on a saturday caning 50 after 50 on anything my brain could come up with and then heading off to casino to try and "double or nothing it " ( often ending with nothing )

and then wondering around the streets in my town at god knows what time not know w*f to do with myself

sorted myself out a bit now by banning from all casinos but the stupid splurges still happen

yesterday for example i convinced my self burnley would do ok against man city and put a days wages on them on a big + handicap ......man city were 2-0 up inside 15 mins and then the burnley keeper chucked the ball in his own net lol

its been a real struggled today to try and not chase that loss , went out for a walk as its been a nice day and just about managed to keep my nose clean tomorrows another challenge

day by day my friend ......and get on eBay lol its your friend
