I feel really overwhelmed by it all.It has taken over my life and things need to change.I didn’t  gamble for 5 years but since I lost my beautiful mum just before the first lockdown I’ve had trouble coping. Two of my children have struggled with the lockdown and have mental health issues,my husband recently had a mental breakdown and I suffer with anxiety myself,so in a nutshell it’s been very difficult to cope with.If anyone has some positive words for me I would very much appreciate anyone’s help xxxx

Hello @yummymummy4,

Welcome to the GamCare Forum and for sharing your post.
I am sorry you are going through a really tough time at the moment, the loss of your mum and the impacts of lockdown have clearly had an impact on you all, it is maybe not surprising that you turned to gambling as an escape, you are not alone in this at all.

If you haven’t already, I would encourage you to make an appointment with your GP surrounding your anxiety and other feelings you may be experiencing currently.

There is plenty of additional support available to you and you have made a really positive step today by posting your story and reaching out.
Please feel free to contact the GamCare Helpline on 0808 8020 133 or Netline to explore the additional support available to you. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week if you would like to talk to one of the GamCare HelpLine advisers.

Regards

Dan

You’re in the right place and just by being here, it proves you have a level of control.

It’s been a tough year and that will inevitably come with triggers, but stay strong. Any variables we can control in a world of chaos will help us to find some level of normality, so do everything you can to control them. Get blocks in place.

No point feeling guilty about what’s happened... look forward. Take control. You’ve got this!
