Hello

I'm 31 and after 15 years of gambling almost everyday today is the day I have self excluded and enough is now enough. After recently being trusted with my bank card again I lost all my wages and ended up getting a £1000 loan and have lost most of that too. All in the same year I'm supposed to be applying for a mortgage with my girlfriend. I feel sick, guilty, anxious and depressed but hopefully after today I can start to change my life for the better.

I am 36, I  started gambling  when I was 16.

I decided to stop gambling 3 years ago and have experienced 13 relapses .

It has now been  17 days since my last bet . I have to take each hour, each day  at a time, and remind myself when I  get tempted why I stopped in the first place .

When you get tempted put the money in a mortgage pot that is what I ended up doing .   Be proud of yourself for taking the first steps to stop .

Look on the bright side. You've taken steps in the right direction. I know with my gambling whenever I won, I just lost it right back. You get to a point where it just doesn't make sense to continue being on that roller coaster where the high points are only followed by the lowest lows. Imagine yourself a year from now if you can go gamble free how much better you will feel. Talk to the Gamcare advisers and develop a plan. Once you have a plan in place you will feel hopeful again. I wish you all the best.
