Hi Jumble,

You're welcome.  I have contacted forum admin to give permission for you to contact me by email if you wanted me to have a look over anything.

Take care.

They should do. If not it may be worth you emailing them at

forum.admin@gamcare.org.uk

I think they require permission from both parties.

In chat the other night someone asked about swapping emails. The moderator said they no longer facilitate this and no details are swapped anymore

Thanks both

Yes, I did leave a message with my email earlier in the week and it was deleted.

In today’s times I’m not surprised they did that. They also sent me an email explaining why they’d done it.

Unfortunately J I don’t think it’s going to happen.

Not sure what to do know. I could leave my email cryptically in a message but I don’t want to get you or anyone else into trouble.

Hi Jumble,

Yes when I asked via live chat the person I spoke to said they thought it was no longer done but suggested I email forum admin. When I emailed they were very discouraging and outlined risks etc. But said if I emailed again giving consent they would pass it on. However when I did this I received no reply. I think maybe there has been a recent change in policy. I understand the reasons. I know they  are trying to keep people safe but it's a pity in some situations that this can't be done.

I did consider leaving a message with my email but think it would be deleted and as you say, didn't want to cause any problems.

Hi J,

Hope you are well?

At the moment I've not been able to find the advice I need of whether the letter I have written to me wife is appropriate.  Of course everyone is different but as the wife of a recovering GA who has very similar traits to me I really would welcome your feedback.

I have spoken to several counsellors who are all lovely but they all say the same thing in that its going to be difficult and I need to be brave.

Is there a particular time when you look at GamCare as I'm certainly happy to post my email details again if its likely you will be on before its removed.  The e-mail is not my day to day e-mail and ironically only receives numerous gambling adverts so if someone out there wanted to be malicious then I'll just delete the account.

Thanks again for your support.

Hi Jumble,

I will probably be reading posts between 9 and 10 tonight and also on my way to work at 6.45-7.15ish in the morning, then again on my way home at 5ish tomorrow evening.

I'm glad you've managed to speak to some counsellors.  It will be tough and probably difficult for a while afterwards but it may also be a relief. Everyone is different but my husband said that he felt a huge sense of relief once things were out in the open.

Good luck.

J.

Hi Loux

Thanks for your advice.  As I mentioned in an earlier post I have spoken to a counsellor and other lovely people who take the calls.  I sent my proposed letter to the counsellor who promised to take a look this afternoon to provide feedback but I've not received a response yet.

I appreciate nobody knows who I am on here but you and others have to believe I am genuine.  Jess27 has had a recent awful experience and my wife is about find herself in the same position so any help I can get to ensure the wellbeing of my wife is a priority for me.  My wife and Jess27 are very similar in that they are private people who don't divulge too many negative things with others.  I'm not saying it will happen but it may also be good for Jess27 to converse with an "anonymous" person (my wife) who is in a similar position.

@Jess27, sorry for talking about you as though you are not here and I will understand completely if you do not want to share your e-mail contact details.

Thanks as ever to everyone who is supporting me on this forum.

J
