Hi, I have been gambling for a good 9 months on and off through various services, I watch gambling streamers through YouTube & twitch. anyway one day while my partner was at work and I was looking after my son and decided to have a dabble. thought I was on a winning streak I eventually lost very quickly and tried winning this back over time which in turn made me gamble more. …  I came across a similar website  quite a while later One day I gambled £500 on a credit card for this website ended up gambling it all and losing, this is were majority of my losses have come from I'm in a lot of debt got 2 loans maxed my credit card which is about £1750. I then got into online slots and online casinos this past week joined blackjack I then started to place high bets on black jack and quickly lost it all plus £2000 that I had in the bank which was gonna pay off 1 of the loans so still I still have 2 loans to pay for, money I borrowed off a friend to help me get out the situation with my credit card, all this my partner doesn't know. which she is against gambling massively.

I don't know if this was all a way for me to generate more money to have a better lifestyle because I pay 100% of the bills in my house hold I have a mortgage with my partner, which does not earn much at all contributes nothing to bills and very little to food shop we have a 1 year old together. I have a really good paying job I still have spare money even after paying all these house bills and loans that I have. I'm the type of person that's always thinking of get rich quick ideas or looking to generate money on the side of my main income. All I have seemed to do this year is chase the big wins that I have encountered on these websites which I have eventually lost I am heavily stressed all the time, I cant talk to my partner, I don't want to carry on but I just cant seem to stop. I haven't put the house against any loans. The magic number is 5 years if I can not gamble for 5 years all my loans will be paid off by then I will have a asset worth £5000 & I will be £400 better a month from not paying these loans. I am feeling massively down I am always thinking about extra ways to earn money but its always through gambling always through betting.  today is the day I start to not gamble. pray for me.

Hello Bossman92h,

Well done for joining the forum and sharing your story.

We edited your post to remove some details that some of our forum members might have found triggering of gambling urges, even so what remains does give a flavour of the roller coaster ride you have been on with the ups and downs of your gambling.  Clearly it has become a problem in the way it is generating debt and stress, and making it hard for you to be open with your partner.

Please have a look at our self-help section that details common recovery tools, for example many of our forum members who are stopping online gambling choose to register with GamStop national self-exclusion scheme for online gambling, and to download blocking software on their devices, and to talk with their bank about blocking gambling transactions.

Please call us on 0808 8020 133 if you'd like to talk about any of this.

Take care,

Forum admin,

That big win will never come, and even if it did would it be enough to stop you gambling, probably not.  Have you put any blocks on your mobile and laptop. It will help to prevent any further damage being done. If you really want to stop then you will have to be honest and come clean to your wife. The truth will always come out in the end. Get help and support from whatever sources you can.  So many of us on here have lost so much more then money chasing the looses and that Illusive big win. Good luck in your journey

Hi bossman we all know this feeling about getting one more win but it doesn’t happen I would say you need to speak to your partner and be honest with her. I’m in the same boat I was hoping to pay my bills off by winning it but I’m trying to see that if I work hard and stop gambling I will be happier and have money in my pocket. Stay strong you have a job a house a wife don’t lose it all for gambling it’s not worth it

thank you for the comments. it's a good feeling knowing I'm not alone but I am overcome with anxiety and panic that she might leave me as I have had a gambling problem before and I promised I wouldn't do it again, that time wasn't as bad as what it is now.
