Im done for good now I have to be; fed up of gambling. I went in the betting shop today; £50 up to losing it all and I was in there 3 hours. I never felt more tired; I wanted to go home but I just couldnt win my £250 back that I put in, the fact I was feeling so tired meant I doubled my bets so I could get back my money faster, thats not what happened though and I went to walking out with £10 for my fare for work. I now have to sell some things to get a bit of money behind me, will be scraping on pennies the next fortnight as the rest of my wages this week will be going on my Holiday in October, I have been here before, my name is Aaron I am a compulsive gambler of 12 years; it's only ever been roulette; bookies, online and casino I have done it all, my worst loss was £21000 over a couple of weeks last year. Although I have an amazing girlfriend who knows of my addiction I have told her it is behind me. I can't keep lying to myself. Ive put on a lot of weight the last year, I have no motivation to go to the gym, I have signed up to stepchange 2 months ago and have still yet to make a payment, I can't afford to; they've said I will no longer be on it if I don't make a payment soon. I have 6 debts totalling around £9000, it's not much but 4 of them are payday loans. Not in a terrible situation right now but if I carry on I very well will be, thats not to say I havent been in bad situations in the past, walking home 10 miles because I gambled every penny I had on me and telling my friends I got assaulted so I couldn't go partying with them, sick of lying, sick of trying. Like many on here my mind is sick, everyday I think about gambling.

I must stop, and today is that day

Aaron

Hello AaronJones,

Well done for posting here and setting out your intentions for recovery. It is good that you aspire to become gambling-free. Our forum members often share their recovery methods and talk about the types of support that they use to help transform their mindset and improve their wellbeing, for example some of our forum members combine online peer support from the forum with local support in the form of 1-2-1 treatment sessions that GamCare offers free of charge, or Gamblers Anonymous meetings, or support from their partners or family members. If you'd like to talk with an adviser about any of this, please call us on 0808 8020 133 or try our netline.

Take care,

Forumk admin.
