Good evening people,

Today marks my 60th day GF & I cannot believe how my life has changed for the better ever since that first day.
No more anxiety, cold sweats, sleepless nights & a head that doesn’t feel like it is floating lost in time.
I love my football & honestly thought that how could I possibly carry on watching the sport I love without placing a bet during a game, but now I think how sad it was that this horrible addiction had taken over my life & was squeezing every last drop of money & time out of me.

I have had many relapses during the 5 years of this addiction, but during that time & 100k losses later, after maxing out the borrowing on the mortgage & maxing out my loans I had nothing left. At this point it was either I lost everything, my kids, my wife, my home & everything good in my life & let this horrible addiction beat me or try & take one step at a time to put things right.

60 days on, I can now smile, I have saved money & starting to rebuild the old me again before this addiction took over my life. Why did I manage to quit this time? Because this time I WANTED TO!! I put everything into quitting & it paid off, the first few weeks were hell but that addiction was leading me to a very dark place called hell anyway.
We have to put everything into beating this because if we don’t we will never beat this addiction, anything less then a 100% commitment will always end in a relapse.

75 days GF will be 1st Jan

100 days will be 26th Jan

Have goals & targets in place & smash through them.

Stay safe guys

First of all congratulations on your achievement so far you've done so well!! And you're correct you've got to want it!!

I'm glad you're felling the way you are and once again you're not wrong, the sleep, the time and the connection back to our loved ones is incredible!!

I like you love football and we've had many chats about can we still watch it without a relapse! Answer is yes, I find myself even more in depth and analysing the game more than ever without thinking I need this or that to happen!!

If you don't mind me adding for fellow readers is that you need to keep your mind active and focused. I've been on night shifts lately, something I've never done before and it's a lot of stop start and there's been times my mind and urges have arisen but luckily enough I was strong enough to decline! I've had it 2 nights on the trot, unsure if it's tiredness or whether it's another stage of the cycle but the mind is a massive part of recovery!!

Anyway I won't carry on. I just wanted to say congratulations and keep going!! Made up for you!!

Stay strong and enjoy this new life.

Deano
