I posted a few weeks ago about my husband and I separating due to his ongoing addiction. I have a 12 week old baby and I feel incredibly low.

Is there anyone I could speak to in a more private setting if that’s allowed?

None of my friends or family really understand what’s going on.

There will be a live text group chatroom open between 8pm-9pm. I'm new here but have found there are some really friendly and helpful people in these chatrooms.

I'm not sure if that would be private enough for your needs but thought I would mention it just in case 🙂

Hi, I’m also new here! And my husband left me a few days ago when he found out about my gambling addiction. I don’t know if there is a private message area, but I’m happy to chat to you. Xx

Dear  @kaykay3311,

Glad you are using the Forum as an outlet and to reach out for support.  I'm sure you will be welcomed with support, advice and encouragement from the Forum members.

Sorry to hear you are going through a tough time. Sounds like there is a lot happening for you right now.

I just want to let you know, you are not in this alone. If you would like to talk things through in private,  I would encourage you to call our Helpline where you can speak to one of our Advisors on 0808 8020 133 or  our 1:1 Livechat are both open 24 hours every day.

If you would also like some peer support. We run a Family and Friends Chatroom every Mondays at 11:30am. Our Chatroom is a safe and supportive environment. Each session is moderated by one of our Advisers, who will welcome you to the chat and be on hand to guide everyone or answer questions if needed.

Take Care and Keep posting

I'm really sorry to hear about that, gambling does break up relationships for sure as it happened to me as well.

I'm always a good listener and open ears, but that's upto you if you want to discuss/talk with a stranger.

But keep your head up and stay strong.

Take care

Hey there, I separated from my partner of 6 years recently because I found out about his gambling, I've been talking to a councillor I was linked up with through Gamcare on a weekly basis as I have still been supporting him through his recovery (managing money etc) and it's been really helpful to me and I'd definitely recommend it as for me it's provided solid advice and helped me work through the situation.

I'm also willing to talk if you'd like as I think there will be some parallels in our situations and I know there's not many people on this site who have left their partner. I don't know if it will be the same for you but I started off feeling really ill and not able to eat, and my friends and family lovely as there are have been very diplomatic saying they'll support me whatever. This all happened a few months ago and I'm still not quite in my rational brain but I have definitely improved, and it will get easy with time. You've been very strong to leave. I can't imagine how difficult this must be with a newborn baby in a pandemic. Let me know if you'd like to talk privately xx
