I'm a returning member just under a new name as id like to think I am a new man hence the new account. I haven't given up for to long but my outset Is so more positive now than any other time ive quit (there have been many). I stopped posting as i needed to forget about gambling and stop that bit of pressure I felt. I just tried to forget I had a problem and live my life. Its worked but I've been having a few little bets recently and ive started having urges to step it up a gear and although I haven't, I can see where its going. It started as a cheap bet every so often now its a cheap bet nearly everyday. So I'm just gonna post on here, read a few diaries and keep myself on the straight and narrow. I'll try not to have any bets, I may have the odd small one but I won't make a big deal out of it as long as I wasn't tempted to up the stakes/chase any loses etc. I'll also try not to mention the fact, if I have had a small flutter as I know It might be tempting others to do this and for some/most its not a good idea, especially early on. Feels wierd posting again but good because i feel on control. Speak to ya soon.

From what i've gathered on here in the couple of days i've been signed up Davie boy, is that these couple of quid bets are the last thing you want to start doing.....

I agree, thats why I'm back on here as I can see the road I'm about to go down - again. But I'm trying not to put to much pressure on myself as I'm doing well and fighting the urges and im proud of myself for that but I also understand I need to be very careful. And as the title says I'll keep an eye on it, a very close eye.

ok right things worse than i thought. dead at work so knocked off early - stopped off at the bookies on the way home - just to kill the boredom lol i was in the "zone", luck was with me so had a few winners to counteract the loses so it never really got serious but i know in my heart i couldve done £200 easy and wouldve been feeling totally s**t right now. As it stands im feeling ok, a bit gutted, a realisation that i'll always be this way and can never let my gaurd slip. Oh well just have to get used to that fact. Time to start from scratch and really think about what im doing and the consequences of what happens if i go wrong. So day 1 starts tomorrow, lets see how i get on.

"dead at work" - please tell me you're an undertaker!

count your blessings for today and see it as a warning - I was in your shoes yesterday, bet for the first time in about 8 weeks and won very well.

Today, despite warning myself not too, I did it again. Down very big (6 times what I was up yesterday despite starting with just a few quid). Continuing on the 'down' theme, I'm downstairs typing this to you while my lovely wife is upstairs and incredibly narked (had to double check I put the 'r' in there!!)

Not preaching to you at all mate - but please heed the warning signs. Best of luck.

I was a good boy today and yesterday. thanks numpty. day off yesterday, was very tempted but kepted myself busy. with the other half tomorrow so that'll be fine but on my own till 4 Monday, again will have to keep myself busy.

Really kinda sick of this tho just wish I could be normal and have a little bet, watch and enjoy it, win or lose doesn't matter. I know I can't do that, it just annoys me of why I can't. I consider myself fairly smart and other than gambling id say I'm good with money. But anyway no point going in to that just try and say goodbye to it all.

Hi mate,

Welcome to this place full of people just like yourself. It seems that you are still going through the motions and finding it a bit too easy to enter the bookies.

May I just finish off my post with two words?

Self-exclude!

All the best,
GT

hi there GT self exclusion isn't for me this time as I have always found a way to bet If I wanted to, I've only ever stopped when I wanna stop. But I do agree it certainly helps especially early on as I have self excluded in the past and although it ended in failure as I'm back here I will agree it helped. But this time I'm on my own.

Right with that out the way confession time opened a new account online (actually still do have a lot of online accounts excluded from before) earlier in the week, lost money and been chasing since I was lucky and had a good day today and I'm back in the black (well from this particular binge anyway, still have gambling debts to pay off from previous binges). I said in my first post I'm back on here because I see the signs well that still wasnt enough for me to take it seriously. Oh well I know now I need to be serious.

I'm saying to myself I need to have a break to break the cycle, as saying I'll never gamble again seems a silly statement to make with my track record, whereas a break of say 2 weeks that then extends to a month etc etc definitely sounds more achievable.

So I'm gonna try and stop for 2 weeks. Wish me luck.

Speak to you soon.
