Mayor launches new expanded service for problem gamblers in Dorset
26 November 2009
The Mayor of the Borough of Poole, Counsellor the Reverend Charles Meachin, will tomorrow officially mark the opening of Steven James Practice's new, larger premises at 9 Park Place, North Road, opposite Poole’s Civic Centre. The event takes place on Friday 27 November from 2.30pm and at 3.15pm the Mayor will cut the ribbon.
Councillor The Reverend Charles Meachin says:
"I am delighted to be here at the launch of Steven James Practice's new counselling centre in Poole. The professional counselling and support that they offer is a unique resource and I congratulate all their staff who have worked hard to develop the service. Steven James Practice will now offer help to people in the wider Dorset area, particularly problem gamblers."
Gerry Jones, Practice Manager at Steven James Practice, says:
“It is an exciting time for the Steven James Practice and I am very pleased to welcome the Mayor to our launch event. Our move to larger premises facilitates the expansion of our counselling service for a range blood-borne viruses, disorders and addictions. In partnership with GamCare we have in particular developed our specialist counselling for problem gamblers and their families across Dorset. With a new on-site training facility, even more counsellors can have GamCare's specific training here in Poole.
"I am also grateful to the SEIF for the funding which helped us to open these premises, and for the support of the local community and agencies."
