5 June 2006
GamCare are pleased to today release the Care Services Report 2005 providing a breakdown of the use of GamCare's Helpline and Counselling services.
Adrian Scarfe, Head of Clinical Services, introduces the report saying,
"We are delighted to publish our seventh Care Services Report, which brings together comprehensive statistical information and analyses from our Helpline, Counselling Service and Breakeven partners.
We are committed to ensuring that assistance is provided to as many problem gamblers and their families as we can within our resources and that such assistance is both effective and of the highest quality. This is the primary purpose of the Care Services and the data presented here has been collected in that context."
Jenny Williams, Chief Executive of the Gambling Commission said of the report,
"We welcome the publication of this report, and its contribution to our understanding of the causes and remedies of problem gambling.
The Gambling Commission is committed to social responsibility in gambling, and our new rules will for the first time ensure operators run their businesses in a socially responsible way as a condition of their licences. While problem gamblers remain a small minority of the population, the figures contained in this report demonstrate an increasing awareness amongst that minority of the excellent help that GamCare can offer them."
