Happy New Year everyone! Our actions of the past have made us who we are today, don't dwell on it just learn from it. Our actions and choices now will mould us into who we will be tomorrow - let's make those choices the right ones!

All the best

Good Afternoon!

In a post a few days ago, I related a conversation I had in the pub when one of the more cocky regulars said that this group would never work; someone would relapse; you'll never get to 100 days.

I wasn't happy with his smug negativity; so I ask this of our group.

For once - just for ONCE - let's stick to this. Words are easy, let's demonstrate ACTIONS.

31 of us, not gambling today. And seeking help (of which there is plenty, on Gamcare and beyond).

For ONCE, let's all stick to this. We are a group with bottle, determination and we are not going to revert to this miserable, sad, meaningless existence.

Yes, life is tough; of course it is. [email protected]@dy tough at times.   But it's a damn sight better than the misery of compulsive gambling.

Just for ONCE, let's get beyond the words and demonstrate the actions for 2017. I'm talking to myself, too, by the way - we all share this journey together.

Ultra respect to our group members who have clocked up considerable GF time, by the way - you are demonstrating it CAN done, day by day. Full respect.

Day 1 of 2017; Day 16 of our challenge and no-one buckling; this is our challenge.

Let's stick to it. You - WE - are in control. NO excuses; because there Is NO excuse. Let's see the whites of your eyes and show us all you want life, not a fast-track train to misery.

Everyone GF today - I salute you all.

WCAWW.

I did go on the site today and logged in but didn't do anything, just closed the browser again; proud of myself! I busied myself with tidying and had a sneaky piece of chocolate instead.

Day 1 GF continues...

Hi LHN, we'll done for closing the browser. Your next step is to ban yourself from ALL gaming sites using K9 software which is free. If you are serious you'll do this. This is an opportunity to break free from compulsive gambling ... why not take this first, substantive step. You can phone Gamcare and they'll tell you all about it. Welcome, once again, to our serious, determined group that wants life, not misery!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had a great evening, however you decided to enjoy it, and that you remained blissfully GF. We welcome Jay D & Lady H to our challenge, our 30th and 31st members. Great to have you aboard and I know, as newbies, you are NOT going to let the group down. Welcome!!!!

LHN would also like to join but I'm concerned for you, LHN. Already, on Day 1, you are accessing your online gaming site, and although you didn't spend any money (a positive!), you need to do better. Please confirm you are going to take serious measures to stop, if that's what you want to do, and then we will be delighted for you to join us. We are a serious group, are you seriously in or out?

Enjoy the first day of 2017 everyone - a year in which we've had ENOUGH of this gambling rubbish and are seriously going to stop :) You are doing brilliantly, and worthy of our challenge :) !

Hi LHN, all you need to do is update here at least once a week, daily is better. Also, you can change your profile to state the first day you haven't gambled. That helps you - and our group - keep track :) . You'll be our member no. 32.

Moorey - great for you to join us; you'll be on our roll-call tomorrow, our 33rd member!

M - thank you for your kind comments; and delighted you remain resolutely gambling-free!!!

Good luck newbies I was told at my ga meetings no half measures and 1000% commitment more blocks and barriers you put up the less chance of gambling it's about proving to yourself then people will have faith in you then gradually it should get easier but always be on your guard good luck

                 *** 100 DAY CHALLENGE ANNOUNCEMENT ***

Dear GF friends,

One of our number has had a blip and gambled. However, Klamm honestly reported this on his thread, showing us total respect and we fully support you, as you brush yourself down and try again, and this is, I read, what you are going to do! We are human, Klamm and we are on your side and with you all the way, day to day!!! So, no worries - you're back in the saddle and back GF. Good man!!!

(Don't forget there is plenty of support on Gamcare, here on our forums and lots more to help you recognise what went wrong. This is a valuable experience that will help you. You will come back stronger!)

Our 100-day count resets to 0, because the challenge is for us collectively to reach 100 days GF. It's a tough challenge, but, by its very nature, one we are striving towards. Starting today, our target end date is April 11th 2017.

Our individual scores continue to rack up of course. ALL HANDS REMAIN ON THE TILLER. We are NOT distracted.

Let's look at the positives - we reached Day 16. Let's beat this as we try again. There are a lot of us part of the challenge - 34 now! But does that mean we are going to slip again? Let's try our utmost NOT too.

We are with you klamm, and you're very much part of our group.

Ok. We collectively start from 0. THIS time - We CAN and We WILL.

Hi mixer I also had a blip on the 31st and want to remain honest. I was in a pub and thought last day of 2016 what harm can it do so put my last fiver in. Then thought about this challenge and thought oh no I might have ruined the challenge. Then been thinking about whether to confess or keep it to myself. I haven't gambled since and on day two today . Apologies adam

Hi guys,

It was going so well and still 18 days GF but it's been a bad bad day, sat down with my partner of 6 years who I have a young child with and she said that I couldn't be trusted anymore and our relationship wasn't the same so it was time to call it a day. To be honest I saw it coming, our distance has been growing for a while but it still doesn't make it any easier.

The hardest part for me is looking at my son at the moment, he's too young to know what's going on but inside it feels like we have failed and my partner also feels the same. I'm from a broken family as so didn't want the same for my children but sometimes things just don't work out.

My head is in a shed and my emotions are all over the place but the only thing I can be sure of is I won't step back into my old life of gambling which has now totally destroyed everything. So angry at myself as well as the bookies, more myself.

Back to work tomorrow as well as moving into a mates, but I need to stay positive. Things can only get better.... Hopefully!?

*** ROLLCALL for the 100 DAY CHALLENGE! *** - 33 magnificent hardy souls choosing life over misery, day by day. Join us if you seriously want to quit gambling forever... one day at a time.

*** SUGGESTED RULE CHANGE *** I hope members of our group do not mind, but I've introduced a new rule. Please let me know if you like it (or not!). What I'm proposing is that original members of our group still GF continue to their original target of 100 days, and are therefore on DAY 17. Let's see how many of us can reach 100 days! If any of us relapse, then their clock starts at 0, and a seperate 100 day target starts. I will keep tabs of it all. One thing is for certain - we are all aiming for 100 days, although we may not reach the finish line together. We still fully support each other! Please let me know what you think; I'm 'road testing' the new rule tonight.

For members of our group still Gambling Free  (31 of us) - DAY 17 COMPLETE! Start date: 14th Dec 2016, End Date: 27th March 2017. KEEP GOING!!!!

For members of the group who have slipped, DAY 1 COMPLETE! Start Date: 1st Jan 2017, End Date 11th April. Let's get you to 100 days, one day at a time. Klamm & Start A Fresh, thank you for your honesty and we are with you all the way as you navigate 100 days once again!

*** If you haven't checked in or updated your diary in the last rolling 2 weeks, then you will be 'rested' (dropped) from the group. This is to ensure that the integrity of our group is maintained. We are a serious group, but realise this challenge isn't for everyone. No hard feelings. If you have relapsed, let us know, because our group will fully support you. Honesty shows respect for yourself and to us. Thank you! ***

Hi Jim24,

I was really saddened to hear of your dreadful day. I am hoping that, after this initial bombshell, that things might calm down after a few days as your wife realises that you are doing something about the gambling element of your life and see that you are trying to make things better.

Sometimes a bit of space between you is a natural break to give you both time to see things a bit more clearly. A time for reflection, and a time to further build on the excellent resolve you are currently showing with your GF approach.

Do consider the Gamcare phone lines and other support; try not to over-think and let negative thoughts creep in; try to stay positive because often it is when the chips are down, that brings out the best in us.

Take care and we are all rooting for you.
