I had my second online counselling today and it went really well although there was a little technical glitch at the start. The built in webcam on my laptop wouldn't turn on!! Anyway, a simple reboot did the trick and it was smooth afterwards. We got a lot covered this session and I'm quite happy with my progression although it's still early days. I have my guards in place to prevent myself from getting complacent. Taking one day at a time. 46 days GF.

Good morning Pras (Hazard2myself) and congratulations on 50 days without a bet.

I am very impressed with the positive attitude and maturity which you have shown in your recovery.

First of all you accepted you were a compulsive gambler. You expressed a desire to stop gambling and were willing to live a gamble free life

Secondly you put blocks in place to prevent you gambling and handed over finances to your girlfriend.

Thirdly you are keeping a gamcare diary of your progress and having counselling.

Fourthly you are utilising your time and energies in a productive way by running, getting out and about and spending quality time with your wonderful girlfriend.

Excellent progress on your gamble free journey...stephen

Thank you Stephen for your kind words and continuous support it means a lot. After numerous failures before I'm really determined to succeed this time and I'm grateful to have found this forum. Gamcare has been a godsend to me. Like I've said before I don't want to get too carried away and want to carry on with "one day at a time" approach. So far so good. 50 days GF. That's a milestone in itself I suppose. Long may it continue.

A day finishes so quick when you're not working, doesn't it? dog walk, food shopping, cleaning, cooking, organising files/emails boom it's nearly 10pm. A productive day and I did not gamble today. Taking one day at a time. 53 days GF.

another day off another productive day.

changed my car's wiper blades with the help of the girlfriend and a youtube tutorial video. saved some money there. I can't believe how easy it was. I thought I would have to get someone from halfords to fit them.

Did a bit of workout at home and cooked dinner. We both enjoyed the dinner and relaxed in the evening watching TV.

I'm loving every bit of this GF life. Not getting too carried away though as it's still early days and I have my guards in place. Taking one day at a time. 54 days GF.

Payday today. My girlfriend has full control over the money so I'm grateful that the hard earned money hasn't gone down the drain by gambling. We are slowly building our savings all thanks to her. I have no urges to gamble. In fact, I did an overtime shift of 12 hours today so the mind's been busy at work. Now off for a week. Time to relax and focus my mind on things that matter. I hope everyone has a lovely easter break. 60 days GF.

Thanks so much Stephen.

Girlfriend's birthday today went fantastic should I say. Took the car to the garage first thing to replace front pads and disc. Went food shopping and bought a yummy cake for the missus on the way home. Cooked dinner all by myself, let her put her feet up and relax. Food was lovely, enjoyed with some wine and baileys. Had the lovely cake for dessert. Gosh we both we were so stuffed in the end. The missus said she could get used to it everyday haha such a cheek. I'm glad that I managed to give her a nice treat today and it's the least she deserves. It's all been possible because of her incredible support towards my recovery. Taking one day at a time. 61 days GF.

It's been a stressful week especially for my girlfriend. Car started to play up since monday and after spending £1000 on new wiper motor, cambelt, water pump and starter motor it's still not fixed properly. Hopefully, it will be fully fixed tomorrow without any more damages. She had to borrow my car for a couple of days after dropping me to work 30 miles away from home. That means she had to wake up with me at 4:30. The whole situation has caused a lot of stress on her. She was worried about spending so much money but it's one of those things. Just gotta take it on the chin and move on. I tried to support her as much as I could because I didn't want her to stress too much. As the saying goes health is wealth.

These sort of things normally give me urges to gamble so that I could make up the money I forked out on car maintenance. However, this time I was the one telling the girlfriend not to worry about the money because I'm confident that we will make up this money in the long run with hard work and savings. I have had no urges to gamble instead I am even more determined to work hard and save so that we could be ready for such unforeseen circumstances in future.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Taking one day at a time. 69 days GF.

Hello Pras,

Yea annoying with the car bill but as you say thats just how it goes sometimes. We've gotta learn to take the rough with the smooth and not hide from it (like i know i have in the past).

Well done on your journey so far, hope you two can still enjoy your weekend.

All the best.

Congratulations Pras. It's over 10 weeks since you last gambled and your attitude and approach to recovery is excellent.

Hoping your counselling goes well today. I enjoyed my counselling and believe I am still reaping the benefits from those sessions.

Wishing you well ...stephen

I was asked today at work if I fancied taking part in the grand national sweepstake. I said no and I'm pleased that I didn't hesitate to say no. I know it's all for fun at work but these are the sort of things I need to avoid at all costs. Prevention is better than cure. 75 days GF.
