Hi I'm no newcomer to this site but I'm a newcomer to recovery. Ive struggled on here for a while and its time for a new approach. I'm going to try a mental and physical detox to get back on track with my life.

I wont bore u with my past shortcomings but its safe to say over the past fifteen years ive been on a slippery slope of gambling and drinking. Ive lost tens of thousands and I do not feel very good for it. Ive joined a gym today and am going to stop going to the pub and drinking. I'm going to only drink on special occasions (it doesn't do anything for me anyway) andafter a detox this month hopefully everything will be clearer.

so its gonna take me a while to get back on track financially but im making good progress at the moment.  8 days of detox in and everything going well.  I have given all my money to my dad this month after payday and just left 40 pounds in my bank account after all my outgoings go out.  I'm leaving my debit card at home when i go out and this should mean i can only spend what i have on me.  I'm not going to drink untill new years and keep it to special occassions (it doesnt do anything for me anymore i've built up too much of a tolerance) ive got a bottle of jd for new years and am going around a mates house for fireworks so will just have to pay for the travel and contribute towards the fireworks.  I dont want to get a head of myself as i know next weekend when my backs better will be the start of the big challenge ahead.  I enjoy staying in at the mo and listening to music (tom odells new album is awesome been listening to it on you tube this weekend look up constellations a must).  Staying in all the itme is not an option ill get bored soon but i have to now come up with new hobbies that are local, cheap and entertaining for the weekends.  probably swimming will be my next hobby as ive done it before and id like to get trim.  As i pay interest on the money owed to my parents id like to pay that off rather than saving so all money will go towards that for the forseable future.

I'm struggling through, wanted to go play poker tonight but decided to stick with the plan. Got to be strong, just stick to my plan, all will be good if I can last a month, from there I will have broken the habbit. Onwards and on to better things. I think I will have an inroad after this weekend. Two weeks in five days. Doin

After thirteen days ive stumbled again. Spent 56 on a poker torney in a casino. Back to day one today. I seem to spend all my money on poker. I'm going to give it one last go if I don't suceed then I'm going to give up. I don't know what giving up will do but I feel that I've given it enough time and thought and need to try something new. I have spent seventy in two weeks of gambling so not major relapse just entertainment. Ive bought Xmas presents this week and not drinking thru December so no major outgoings coming up e mail

Put the stumble behind you.....you giving 'giving up' one last go? You need to make it work then, lest you want to pay casino staff wages. You know you want to change, be back in control, believe in yourself.
