Hi, I've just lost 30k from online roulette and feel really bad..the first time I lost the pain was bad..the last 10k lost then I felt no pain. I've now self excluded from the betting site.. it all started 3 weeks ago..was up 8 k then lost and then trying to chases my losses...taken out 25k in credit cards/loans (though I paid 4K off the mortgage). Thank god. Now it take me 4 years to pay everything off for 3 weeks of madness...not told anyone due to the shame..I will see the docs as also got mild OCD..need to stop thinking of gambking and got in with life...

Hi Raj,

well done for posting on here and well done for taking action.

If you haven't done so yet, it probably would be helpful to also talk to an adviser on the Helpline 0808 8020 133 or the Netline.

And of course, keep posting and also read other people's diaries on .

All the best,

Raj, it is devastating when you chalk up huge debts quickly - so easily done. Seem like you are getting your head back in the right space.  It's going to be a long road and you are likely to be very challenged to keep on track but you can do it. Time and resolve will help but if you can it's worth chatting  to a professional even if it is a telephone call - I see gamcare have offered some support so worth a call.  I wish you every success.

Well done Raj you got to a week gamble free!

Last time is right even if it does take longer don't punish yourself by just thinking you have to put every penny to your debts. it's important that you treat yourself occasionally for your own sanity.

Keep going mate!

Hi mate, I know the feeling.  Just 4 weeks ago, I lost 53k in one night.  I was very close to taking out a loan for 25k although thank God I did not send them the details they requested.  I hope you can put this behind you.

I lost about 7-8k in June. The pain is still very raw and the implications of the loss keep cropping up. But with the help of others I've found that if you keep taking positive steps, you can look back and say, wow that was a big lesson learned . I'm not choosing that short cut by gambling. work honestly and get in a position of happiness and content.

uo thHi Everyone, I've relapsed and back into betting big time again. I had placed 10k loan in my account.. with a bit of luck from him up there I've managed to win my money back as was even in profit.. but we always think we can win more..so I lost all my profits but I managed to withdraw £40k..every penny I paid in betting this year..so I'm in neutral and very lucky..looks like betting is something not for me.

Dude you have to close that game and withdraw that cash now...or never...and no 'burning off the odd £70 on a round figure'

Your better than the misery of how you wil feel tomorrow morning when it is all gone...

If you dont want the money send it to me, but dont give it back to the casino.... you have not won 40k back.. you just have not lost it yet. if you keep playing you will eventually loose.. its as simple as that.

Stop stop stop! At all costs! Cancel a card, send the money elsewhere, pay it off the loan straight away.. buy a boat!!?? The gambling addiction is making you want to gamble, it's not to do with with win or lose anymore Raj we've all been there. This will eat you up and spit you out if you don't at now. Dealing with a crippling addiction with be a tad easier if you aren't 40k down and wanting to chase your winnings. I feel for you mate because I've been in similar positions.. but take a step back and try to look at your situation without the gambling goggles on and act fast. Much love and hope sent your way man. Looks like I'm going to have to learn the hard way and now will stop gambling for good. Need to focus on the good things in life..and hope I can overcome this

Bless you mate. What a horrible compulsion this is. What's done is now done. Close the book on this chapter, and when you feel like chasing after the lost money again, just remember that even if you were to win it back, the likelihood is you will just do it all over again, as you have now. We've all been there Raj, I've seen this and felt this all too many times. Enough is enough now mate, for me, for you and for everyone else here. I wish you all the best buddy. Mikey.

Thanks for the kind words Micky..I've now hit rock bottom with betting and need to focus on positives things in my life..such as my little girl. The money will still take 5 years to pay but I will have to get though this, I think I need to be addictive to the gym or do something posite.

Hi Raj,

I know how it feel's, lost 17k that was an advance payment for work I've got to do. Make's matters worse that it has nearly bankrupted my company, I owe thousands in personal credit as well, in mine and used wife's credit cards. Been in an Iva for 7 years due to gambling (55k) so blown in excess of 100k in 7  years. Credit rating so bad can't even get a payday loan with some lenders. For a sensible person in all other aspects of life that is very hard to come to terms with hence why I kept chasing. We have to accept the monies are gone and no chance of winning back as we can't quit whilst ahead. Very hard to do but for me it's either that or lose everything I've got a wife and two daughters who don't deserve what my actions have resulted in. I spend 45-55 hours a week at work and spend all the profits and more on gambling online. Never got funds to do jobs at home or spend on family holidays or days out. It's a nitemare to be honest but things will get better without gambling. We need to stop now and not go back.

I just have to move on and accept it as a bad investment and get on with my life. Will be hard the next few years but I will get through this. My Parents and Wife would be devested if I told them..so I need to stop now whilst I can recover this situation.

Raj, I have followed you closely as your first lapse was the same time as me, 37 days ago. Any blocks in place now? Anyone know about debts? I am by know means an expert but I know that if I hadn't stopped 37 days ago my 9,500 would be worse. Keep going mate and things will get better.

No ones knows about my debts..can't really tell anyone as feeling ashamed about this. I can just manage the debt..though going to hard for the next few years. I've cancelled my account now so no going back. I did not place all my loans into betting somcan Conner the bills payments etc for the next few months. Time to reset my lifestyle and move forward from this.

At least you have kept some of the loan to cover bills etc. I've made the mistake of losing everything that was in the account!!

I have not told anyone about the debts and gambling that have been accumulated the last 8 months. The general opinion of the majority of successful forum users who have abstained from gambling is to tell someone and admit everything. I am not ready today to confess about the latest run of losses but maybe I will tomorrow who knows. At the moment concentrating on remaining gamble free and positive even though not a lot to be positive about at the moment the losses are still there and always will be but I need to let go. Hope all goes well for you.

Raj, honestly now when you are looking at things differently put as many barriers in place as possible... you say the only way is up but i'm sure that was also the case before you took another 10k loan....its not worth it, accept the loses and make it as hard as you can to gamble

Hi mate, I've now cancelled my accounts and there's no way in going back now. 1st goal is to clear my credit card and the loans will take care of themselves. No more credit/loans are available as maxed out. It's going to be a hard year ahead but got to get through this..at least for the sake of my little girl. I think is now to get addictive to exceeding and the debt off. This is a big wake up call as no way to make easy money.

Hi Raj, like you I now have 5 years of £600 a month to pay for this addiction. Im only a week in, but my head despises where gambling has put me, but my headspace now is to never ever log online to another Casino ever, and funnily enough one casino offered me £150 free the other day to try get me back. All the time you lose to watching a wheel spin, reels spinning for what. Good Luck.

Ah raj my mate i have just read this full forum and really feel for you mate, how can you afford to take out all them credit cards and loans? You winning was literally very rare and you seriously never want to put 40k on the line its devasting life changing actions, self exclude from all gambling websites and all your local area bookies, if you havent got the time then ask someone to do it for you, im sure you already know but just ask if you need to know who to contact to self exclude from the bookies in your area

Honestly mate you never want to try and get that money back, i went years chasing my money and literally yeh a few wins but untimatly lost more and more over the years and ruins lifes, more likely outcomes from gambling: pay depts for the rest of your life literally working for free, mental health problems, not being able to just live in the moment and not have money on the mind, it really is not worth it so many lifes destroyed really sad, i couldent belive hearing you went back, when them thoughts come you should block the chance todo i.e however you were going to gamble self exclude, make it inpossible, the thing i like about being barred from the shops is if you ever won which is so rare the bookies dont even have to pay you if they then find out your excluded this can be worst than loosing the money!

Hi Darren, I was caught in the trap of chasing my losses thinking I was onto a winner. Gambling had taken over me in such a short time and filled a gap that was missing in my life..was rather stressed at that time..no excuse though. I've now stopped for good and only have regrets. Please see my recovery diary. All the best on your recovery as the first step is to admit you have a problem. We are all here to help you get through this. Stay Positive.

Hi Raj,

Watch out for bonus e-mails; you never get anything for nothing, there are usually onerous terms and conditions (like multiple playthroughs) as you well know. All designed to tempt you back.

Keep aware and don't forget, Raj - gambling is very dangerous for your health and wealth. A few years back, a bookies gave me a voucher for a pocket dairy but I had to go the bookies to pick it up. It was quite nice, I suppose - real leather, I'd say - but I couldn't just leave the bookies could I - they'd given me something for nothing Upshot? I gambled £70 on the FOBTs. Didn't intend to - and walked out a £5 diary richer but £70 poorer.

The same with these bonus offers. I hate to be a party pooper, Raj, I really do. But the best thing you can do is stay clear. In a funny sort of way, gambing isn't a 'choice', because you know it leads to absolute misery. So think of gambling, by all means, but celebrate that you aren't doing it anymore, and have a total sympathy for those that still do. My goodness, you want want to be a gambler, would you? If only they were free, like you, for this addiction. You'd help them, wouldn't you? KEEP GOING RAJ !!!!

Hi Guys..these are wise words. I suppose nothing is for free these days. I don't know why I read and opened the account. I felt no urge or pleasure to bet..which I suppose is a positive thing though I still need to keep my guard up though.
