Thank you Sharon for posting on my diary. You have always being there to lend a hand and help me get back on the road. Your ongoing support has meant a lot to me.

It was good to hear from "Who am I" again. I was pleased to read she was still gamble free.

Sharon had a wretched fall - it seemed to last for ages

On anguished days or lonely nights - she squandered all her wages

In March last year - 3 5 7 days precisely

Our heroine stopped gambling - now her life is sweet and spicy

Not always a bed of roses - life sometimes is cruel

But Sharon has courage and is nobody's fool......

I raise my hat to you Sharon and your wonderful journey of recovery. Respectfully yours...stephen x

Thanks Stephen this has really cheered me  up Had a big row with my daughter earlier (usually we get on fine) and came to work a bit sad. But the plus side of this is in the past I would have hit the online slots, spent everything abs felt even worse, so tomorrow is another day I suppose. I can imagine you rapping this verse Stephen, thanks again S x

Quite right Sharon and good that you can look at things in a loving and realistic way. Your daughter will no doubt view herself as an adult with her own ideas and views on life

Parents and children have disagreements all the time but sadly they sometimes say regrettable things. It is imperative that disputes be resolved in a calm way that hopefully will satisfy both parties.

Take care Sharon. Wishing you a great friday and a lovely weekend to follow. Sending you a big hug...stephen x

Congratulations Sharon on 360 days gamble free.

Your journey is a wonderful testament to what can be achieved with courage, determination and resilience. Not only have you battled with your own problems,  you have always been there to support your fellow travellers.

I often think of GamCare as being a treasure chest containing dreams and wisdom, an Aladdins Cave of hope and inspiration.

Come friday you will a year away from your last gamble. That is absolutely wonderful.

Take care and keep blazing that trail ...stephen x ( big hug )

@Sars thanks so much for your continued enthusiasm and back at ya! Your positivity is really inspiring for a GF future x

@Stephen What  can I say? You have been through so much but still put others feelings high up on your list. Truly a pillar of this sight and am lucky to call you my friend. Numerous times your words have lifted my spirits Sx

Day 360 Sounds cheesy but 360 feels very significant, I feel genuinely like a different person from nearly a year ago. From feeling hopeless, scared and worthless to more confident, happy and resilient. I can't believe I got myself into such a mess but with time and thought have slowly but surely coming out the other side. Being reassured I'm not alone has meant so much to me so sincere thanks to everyones diary I have read.U have turned things around from having no hope at all or confidence, it can be done! Take care S:)

Hello Sharon. Only an hour away from 1 Year Gamble Free.

I have been browsing through your diaries which are a record of your wonderful progress.

You merit enormous respect for the challenges you have overcome and I am grateful for the support you have given me as I have struggled with the addiction.

I can't imagine how it must feel to have completed a full gamble free year but it is something I can aspire to.

Take care my friend and take pride in your achievement ....stephen x ( big hug )

Day 365

@Stephen I can't thank you enough for your support, kind words and encouragement. You are a true gent who has been through so much but gives everyone 100% Don't forget to be kind to yourself too! Read a quote yesterday which was vaguely 'you know there was a person who you loved and would do anything for? Make that person you' cheesy but true! Take care and have a super weekend Sx

@Smashed thank, our journeys have been similar and your posts have always made me think outside the box. Indeed forward is the right way to go,  have a great weekend S:)

@Phil72 Happy Birthday! Your posts have always been very helpful and make some valid points ref gambling, Thank you for your input and kind words. Hope you are spoilt today take care S :)

So here I am a whole year has passed in various speeds! I genuinely thought I couldn't escaped gambling which was having a huge impact on my life, financially and mentally. I felt weak to it'S power and how much I was attracted to it. I also hadn't realised how little self confidence it had  left me with. So I-m now a)Feeling more worthy b)Financially in a far better place c) Feel more like a 'normal' person, but all this would not have happened with the kind souls who have helped and supported me on this site,. Obviously wish I had never taken the gambling path but recovery has taught me so much about mysrlf it is a silver lining! So hppy weekend be kind to ourselves and stay GF Sx

Great post Sharon. Thank you for those kind words.

Hope your "1 Year Gamble Free Day" has been good for you. The weather in Hull has been wet and dull but your achievement has really brightened up the day.

Looking at the weather I am tempted to give GA a miss tonight but on the other hand I need to go. My dream is to follow your example and have a gamble free year so i had better get myself moving.

Take care and have a lovely weekend...stephen x

Hello Sharon, hope your having a lovely weekend. I imagine you will have been reflecting on your wonderful achievement of one year gamble free. No doubt it will be tinged with sadness that you ever became involved with gambling but that is to be expected.

You have certainly come a long way since first arriving at the diaries. At that time you were probably feeling fearful and anxious as you took your first tentative steps on your gamble free journey. Your first diary was "First day to end this addiction" which recorded the anguish you felt and the courage you displayed in the early days of recovery.

The days, weeks and months passed and you started to regain your self respect. Whilst still having negative thoughts and emotions you were resolved to continue on your quest. Along came 24th August 2017 when you started Phase 2 of the journey. This was recorded in your diary "No going back but learning from the past."

Seeing yourself in a different light, you now had self belief and had moved on. Hopes and dreams began to reappear and a bright future beckoned. Seeing that one year gamble free was within your grasp you started a third diary "From here to a year." This diary has taken you up to the present time where we see you as committed as ever to a gamble free life. Naturally you are still saddened by your gambling history and the debt it has caused you but I believe you can live with that and stay focussed on the future.

Looking forward to seeing the launch of your 4th diary and following your adventures in year two...stephen x

Hi Stephen yes I have been thinking a lot about well everything!! but am feeling positive about the future. My original debt was approx 15k and is now 11k but I am planning on giving this a good kicking. So really I'm not where I want to be but am on the right road and also being an impatient so in so recovery has made me real igniting is instant but that's ok. Indeed even though I wouldn't wish this addiction on anyone parts of recovery have helped me see myself clearly. Hope you're having a good weekend and I'l start a new thread if I can remember how to do it! Take care Sx

Wishingh you a MASSIVE congratulations on your 1 year gamble free. Your support helped get me to where I am today and I am so pleased you are on the same road. The debt is coming down, don't beat yourself up now, it will continue to and this time next year will have reduced a lot more too.

Belated congratulations - 1 year is a fantastic achievement. Not only have you had the strength to help yourself travel down this hazardous road you have unselfishly helped many others along the way, myself included.
You deserve nothing but the best. Keep plugging away at those debts but don't forget to save a little to enable you to enjoy your wonderful gamble free life!
