Chatroom development - updates thread

Dear Forum users,

We understand that you are keen to know when the chatroom will be up and running again. The current situation is that a new chatroom provider has been identified and our developers are working on integrating it with our website, making sure you can log in with your current forum usernames and that it has the features needed to make it a secure and safe chatroom space for our users. This process does take time. Bear in mind that like many organisations, we are simply not of a size where it is practical to have a dedicated team of web developers of our own, so we rely on external developers who are doing their best to prioritise this job for us. 

We have noted your requests for updates so we will use this thread to post any updates on progress. We will post again on Tuesday 6th February in the afternoon, and in the meantime we will be leaving this thread open for your questions.

If you are missing the chatroom and feel the need for group support in the meantime, why not try the 24/7 chatroom at www.gamblersanonymous.org.uk, or the chatrooms at www.gamblingtherapy.org - or go along to your nearest GA meeting for face to face support. Hello everyone, and thank you for your continued patience while we work to bring our chatrooms back online. We apologise if our updates on progress have not been as frequent as you would have liked, however please be assured our web developers are working as quickly as possible to get us back to normal.

We understand that this is a frustrating situation as many of you used the chatroom regularly, and we sincerely apologise that it has taken us this long to rectify the situation. Our previous platform was without support for some time, so we were working to source a replacement. Unfortunately, the platform crashed before we could fully implement a solution.

The integration needed to ensure a good user experience with our system is not simple. We also have to factor in time to train staff in using the new system. If everything goes well we are hoping to see the chatroom return in three weeks' time – the team are working as quickly as possible, and we will post further updates here as soon as we have them.

Once again, we apologise for the delay and we thank you for sticking with us while we fix the situation.

this is to update you that the Chatroom testing will enter its final phase of testing on the week beginning 26th of February before we relaunch. 

Once again, we’re very sorry for the delay in restoring the service.
