I don’t do many posts on here but I go on the chat room quite a bit and speak to people on there. But it is coming up to 8 years next year when I will be gamble free and Gamcare has been the main place that has helped me quit, manage my addiction and work on helping others. I do hope one day to become a sponsor for someone but considering I don’t go to GA meetings I don’t see becoming a sponsor anytime soon.

I still don’t have any feelings to gamble at all and focus my time on other things. I have been working on becoming a minimalist this year and it has really opened my mindset on what is really important in life or in other words what we really need to be happy in life. I read a lot more than I did and hoping next year I can go back to the gym after taking nearly 18 months off from any gym or exercise. I have been giving to charity due to removing things from home that I don’t use and someone else may. Currently working on cutting my TV viewing time down as staring at a screen on shows that have no meaning is wasting my time.

All I want to say to end it for the moment is that for everyone who is trying to quit, or anyone who has recently quit gambling and to those who are still going, there is more to life than gambling. There are many better things that we can do in our lives. So please stay strong and I may see you in the chat rooms some time.

Congratulations Beany.

Your 8 years of recovery will doubtlessly give hope to many forum members, and provides evidence that change is possible and the potential for recovery does exist.

Thanks for sharing a little about how you are finding ways to value your experience beyond gambling.  It sounds like you are seeing things differently and finding a way of living that is more in tune with your values.

Thanks as well for mentioning our chatrooms, maybe that will encourage others to use them too.

Take care,

Forum admin.
